It's not in the liberal media, so this is the first they hear of it. I've been so busy or I would have started such a thread a day or two ago.

What do you liberals/democrats think of that?

President Obama wants universal health care, but he wants the government to stop paying for veterans war injuries...

I think that it's just politics as usual.

The administration is floating this out there to see what the public opinion is on it. And when they see what it is, they'll come back with something that is less offensive and everyone will say "This is so much better" and then that will pass.

That'd be pretty stucking fupid.

Threatening to make veterans pay for fixing the bodies broken in service to their country isn't "politics as usual." Except in the head of the most anti-military, liberal politician of all time.

Remember, these are our elected official we're talking about.

The same ones who said we HAD to pass the stimulus bill and then when they finally read it feign indignation over what was in it.

You know, I never hated president Obama before this. Only his policies. If he continues to be so hateful of our military, especially the veterans who sustained injury, I will develop a hatred for him.

Right or wrong, most these soldiers fight for us and the constitution. For a president to act as he has over this, sorry, it simply is not forgivable.

:tu It's pretty bad when we give illegals better care than Obama wants to give our Vets! Also, they expanded the SChip program so that a family of 4 earning $85,000 a year can get free health care at taxpayers' expense, but Obama wants the people who were injured serving their country to pay for their own healthcare. :ihit

Obama hates veterans

Obama met with 11 veterans service organizations on Monday and explained his plan to increase funding for Veterans Affairs by $25 billion over five years and bring more than 500,000 eligible veterans of modest income into the VA health care system by 2013.
But the American Legion, the nation's largest veterans group, said the president's plan would have increased premiums, made insurance unaffordable for veterans and imposed a massive hardship on military families. It could have also prevented small businesses from hiring veterans who have large health care needs, the group said.
The American Legion applauded Obama's decision to drop the plan on Wednesday.
"We are glad that President Obama listened to the strong objections raised by The American Legion and veterans everywhere about this unfair plan," Cmdr. David K. Rehbein of the American Legion said. "We thank the administration for its proposed increase in the VA budget and we are always available to assist by providing guidance to ensure a veterans health are system that is worthy of the heroes that use it."
The American Legion wants the existing system to remain in place. Service-related injuries currently are treated and paid for by the government. The American Legion has proposed that Medicare reimburse the VA for the treatment of veterans.
Go ahead. Be indignant. :)

More proof of Obama's hatred of Vets. I know I'm having buyers remorse

Gibbs said Obama wants to "continue a constructive partnership" with veterans groups and highlighted the administration's commitment to veterans. In his budget blueprint, Obama proposes the largest increase in the VA's budget in 30 years.
Paul Reickhoff, executive director of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, was critical of the proposal and issued a statement today saying that the administration is "upholding our sacred trust with America's veterans. Veterans of all generations are celebrating this decision."

Fucking indignation in here better be rising.

Does hater WC hate the Army for refusing to classify 100s of 1000s of vets with TBI and PTSD as disabled, because the Pentagon wants to keep the $600B/year for themselves and, as usual, shit on the disabled vets?

nah, WC only hates the Magic Negro.

RANDOM GUY'S LOGICAL QUESTION OF THE DAY:

If you never read/listen to the "liberal media", is it logical to assume that you know what the "liberal media" says or doesn't say?

Did you even read the plan? Or the article?

Sure, it was a flawed plan. Then the American Legion pointed out the drawbacks, and Obama agreed and withdrew it.

What would you rather he do? Propose nothing? Propose something only if every party agrees? Or refuse to admit mistakes and just push his ideas through?

Obama is at least smart enough to understand that this would have been enormously unpopular.

Why this was even floated out there, I don't know.

Do you not find it absolutely ridiculous he gave this idea a thought. "Hmm, our solders who get hurt should be covered by their own insurance, Government should not have to pay for them even though they are fighting for our country, I wonder if I can get this to stick"

Obviously this would never ever fly so again "What a a-hole. The nerve Obama has to even put this on the table makes me sick"

There you go! Show us that righteous, OH SO RIGHTEOUS, indignation. It makes me sick that our president wants to increase the VA budget like no other president and it REALLY makes me sick that this president doesn't become married to bad ideas and actually strikes them down. I mean fuck, out of the thousands of issues the man deals with on a daily basis, I can't believe he proposed an imperfect plan and then had the gal to rescind the plan in the span of 48 hours.

What a douche.

I don't get why all the board conservatives were so outraged to begin with. How many threads have been posted over the past couple of years about the evils of government run health care? Why would you want to subject our troops to something so horrible?

I don't think obama has the intellegence to hold a thought for longer than a sound bite much less a day or two.I wonder how long it'll take him to realize his porkilous bill was a disaster? But all kinding aside I think this wholoe thing is a brush fire, I think the AIG thing is a brush fire they are so transparently stupid. I think the Democrats (political class)are starting all these little brush fire to draw attention away from the real agenda

about some flunkie in the Obama administration suggesting something incredibly stupid that everybody immediately realized it was stupid and withdrew as soon as it started circulating?

Fixed.

I think it is floating around somewhere. If anyone really truly thinks Obama himself thought of this and suggested it seriously, then step up for your Political Hack First Class award.

This was a dumb idea that rightly got ganked as fast as possible, and has the feel of a point from some brainstorming session where anything and everything no matter how outlandish is written down and circulated as part of list of all possible solutions before being subjected to a realistic appraisal of merit.

Just my gut reaction.

That the idea even made it from his brain to his mouth says volumes. That he let it float for a couple of days just makes him stupid.

You'd think he would evaluate the implications, and discover it was bad for veterans, before he shared this grand scheme with the public.
