We'll have the most complete Manu practice video as soon as we wrap up here. Hopefully we'll get to talk with him. Stay tuned.

From Spurs.com twitter... WOOHOO!

I just pulled a horrible prank on my mother. She has got to be one of, if not the biggest Spurs fans I know. She's at work, and doesn't get a lot of opportunities to look at things like this. I told her Manu was out for the season...She said "NO!" Then I said "no" and told her the good news...lol..made it sound even better..

Scary that we're putting all this nervous pressure on one practice. The real test is when he gets into a grueling 7 game Utah series in the first round and gets thrown to the floor several times.

ST member Chasky had the "Manu 2008 interrupted season" on a link in a thread. It was awesome. Surely, made me miss Manu even more. What a dynamic talent he is to the Spurs.

The Spurs and Pop have done a commendable management of the team considering all the injuries that have plagued them all season. Here's to Manu's health.:toast

twitter's great for stuff like this.....also, how cool is it to be able to send a message directly to fab or tyson chandler or whatever. sure they may not do more than glance at it, but to be able to contact someone like that directly is pretty cool. especially with a guy like fab where you know its him and not some PR flunky.

As far as our desperation goes, hell yeah we're desperate for Manu!

From what I've researched, Manu's injury right now is basically about dealing with pain. If the bone has healed sufficiently, the only thing that would keep him out is pain in the area. So his return basically comes down to waking up one day and the pain is at a manageable level.

Hopefully that day was today and he can go vs. Boston :hungry:

if you have a twitter account though you can set it to "follow" a bunch of people and you see their updates directly instead of having to click through each one. i use it pretty much for basketball players and personalities only. interesting to hear their thoughts.

KG is a game time decision. He'll probably play. Still don't think we should play Manu though. Not sure about Ray Allen's status though.

Eh, if the MRIs show the bone has healed and his pain has reduced to a point he can deal with it, additional rest won't help much. Might as well throw him out there and start the process of getting him back into rhythm.

But we'll have to wait. A lot will depend on if the pain returns in the morning.

It's good to see him feeling good enough to dunk in practice. The fact that the coaching staff is OK with it makes me think he is closer to coming back than further. Hopefully we get some extra info in the video.

I looked at the t-shirt thread it started in 11-2006. Maybe ST has more of a following now? Pre-orders with deposits, so you'd know ahead of time if it would work? Did you have the ability to print avatars with our ST username on it? Do you have a copyright on ST?

Sorry, I wasn't posting in 2006. Didn't even know of ST then. Just wondering.:stirpot:

Manu practices (some), eases concerns (some)

By Jeff McDonald on Mar 19, 2009 1:20 PM | Permalink (http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/courtside/2009/03/manu-practices.html) | Comments (0) (http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/courtside/2009/03/manu-practices.html#comments)
Thursday was a D-Day of sorts for Manu Ginobili. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich had said if Ginobili was unable to get on the floor for practice by this day, that's when it would be time to worry.

Well, Ginobili was out on the practice floor this morning. It's too early to call "crisis averted," but it was an encouraging sign.

"It's the next step in getting him back to whole," Popovich said after the session.
Ginobili has missed 16 consecutive games with a stress reaction in his right ankle. Thursday marked four weeks since the prognosis of two-to-three weeks inintially offered by the team's medical staff.
This morning, Ginobili played a some one-one-one, did some scripted offense and defense, and -- perhaps most importantly -- worked out at full speed. He even dunked once, video you're likely to see on everybody's newscast tonight.
It would be premature to expect Ginobili in all his glory to be making an appearance on an NBA floor near you soon. By the end of full-court drills, Ginobili was sucking wind.
Just the fact that Ginobili's sore right ankle allowed him to do more today than he could do yesterday was clearly a heartening development for the Spurs. Popovich said it will be at least a week more before he will even consider getting Ginobili into a game.
"When he's able to play without fear of making it worse, that's when he'll play," Popovich said. "When's he's on a track where it's just getting better and better all the time and he can't go backwards, that's when he's going to play. When is that? Heck, I don't know."
What is clear is that Thursday's practice, and more like it, will give the Spurs medical staff a better sense of when Ginobili might be ready for action.
"You can tell in workouts if guys are favoring a foot," Popovich said. "The court is what gives us those answers. For him to get on the court today, and play a little of both offense and defense, starts to make a picture for us to look at. But it will be at least a week before we start to get serious about whether he's going to play or not."

No, it's not bad news. It's actually what we thought would happen. If he's swelling or feeling pain that's out of the ordinary for this type of injury recovery then we would be worried, but we really won't know until tomorrow.
No surprises here.
