Honestly, if Drew Gooden was in the starting line up he would be the PF with Duncan as center.

Not sure if Duncan would want to give that title up.....

Obviously depends on matchups but I'd go with Kurt in general.

If I were Pop, then he'd be me, and Pop would use my body to get the Spurs to a title.

What's funny is I'm sure Bonner won't get the nod here to start in the playoffs on ST,
and, Pop will give us all the finger and start him anyway...:lol

I guess I'm one of the few that would go with Oberto. He's our best passing Center out of the bunch and knows the offense better. He sets good screens and always hustles.

Like someone else said, it depends on matchups and who WE have starting too.

Eh? That didn't make any sense . . .

It is a joke (quoting a movie) that makes perfect sense if you have seen it. I will explain it to you.

Basically, if we are theoretically asking if any individual "was Pop", then we are implying that Pop does not disappear, but switches places with us.

Since I would be in Pop's body and he in mine after the switch, the joke says that Pop's mind (which is what leads the Spurs to a title) would use his new found body to accomplish the same goals he had previously set forth.

But I would go with Bonner for the same reason he starts now. If you do not pair him with Duncan, he is basically useless. So why not maximize the value you get from him, instead of just getting nothing by not starting him?

I say KT. He is defense and rebounds. I don't want Bonner to get scrub minutes, he does open the paint for Duncan quite well. And I think Gooden should be subbed in for an offensive boost when needed.

Kurt is playing really well lately. But in the end matchups will decide.

I still like getting the bigman rotation down to three. The only way to do that that I see is to start Duncan and Gooden and then pick Bonner, Thomas or Oberto as the third big depending on what is needed. Bonner to spread the floor, Thomas for rebounding and defense or Oberto for passing and overall basketball IQ.

Bonner sucks. He should be third string at best.

Gooden...I think he would compliment Tim the best in terms of defending the paint and rebounding (assuming he is completely healthy).

Yes, but even though it is a small sample size, you saw you can get production from Gooden if he is not out there with Tim or coming off the bench. With Bonner, that is not the case. If you want to get anything from Bonner (and his 3's are useful), you almost have to start him next to Tim.

I would go with Bonner. I think Pop knows what he is doing. Sometimes we may whine about it, but it produced wins most of the time.

The easy answer is.....depends on the matchup.

For the Suns, I'd start KT. For the Mavs, Gooden. And so on...

Bonner. If he has trouble, take him out and put in KT

some floortime stats

TD+Bonner = +.128 ppm
TD+KT = +.154 ppm
Bonner+KT = +.249 ppm

:wow

also
Bonner leads the team in total +/- on the year with +224. due in part to missed time by the big 3, of course, but still, to climb from Pop's doghouse to that, impressive.

Thomas. Gooden is redundant with Duncan on the floor.

Spooky

Bonner spreads the floor
Gooden can do some things we need
Oberto is all heart and hustle
Thomas should probably start so I voted for him

I like the way Tim and Kurt play together. In fact it is a lot like how well Tim and Fab worked together in 2007. Bonner is just too insecure as a starter. I'd like to see a bench of Manu, Hill, Bonner, Gooden and any combo for the 5th player Pop thinks best at that particular time. Could be Tony or Mason or Jacque. or Finley or Malik or ??? since it is rare to have a complete bench on the floor at one time unless it is a blowout one way or the other or if 2 starters are out with injuries.

Having said that I put my faith in Pop to figure out the best combo during game and player situations/conditions.

I like KT simply because of how well he plays with Timmy. I think Gooden will be great for the first big off the bench for Timmy, then Bonner or Oberto for KT dependinng on matches.
