Dallas' recent sucky play is leaving the door open for the Suns. In addition, Jazz schedule is gonna get alot harder in these next few weeks.

The refs won't let the whiteJazz miss the playoffs. It'll come down to whether or not Phoenix fucks up.

It's not "only" when there's 13.5 games left in the season.

I told ya'll the Mavs would lost a bunch more....probably go down to the wire...Sun still have a chance. Not sure why either team really cares about getting the 8th seed....no chance any way :elephant

When you have Shaq and Nash on your team anything can happen...IMO they have much better chemistry than the mavericks anyways

The only games left for the Mavs that I feel semi-confident they'll win are the two Minnesota games and Memphis.

The Suns/Mavs game on April 5th will be intense if Phoenix can keep their heads above water until then. Can't wait.

The fuck they do. They have more talent on their roster yet an inferior record, that should say a lot about their chemistry.

lol dude...Jason Kidd sucks sorry to say. He is the mavericks tmac this year but he actually plays games.

better than Nash this year.

Dude i don't know why so many people say that. I had the pleasure of watching him close up vs the rockets and good fucking god the man was a 1 man team.
Every shot down the stretch seemed to go in for him, when you play vs Nash and you're worried more about his shot than all the open looks he gets people, you're in trouble.

If J Kidd could shoot we wouldnt be having this convo

do you know by how many games mavs are behind rockets?

Ghazi
03-19-2009, 11:07 PM
yeahh he's wonderful offensively ever since the coaching change but...

we're talking about 37 YO Shaq and 35 YO Nash here, not Lakers Shaq or MVP Nash. 4 of their next 6 are against playoff teams they will sputter there while the Mavs have a lot of home games to end the season.

we'll see what happens.

but the mavs themselves are "only" 3 games outta 3rd seed. but 3 games is a lot with 13 left to play especially when you havent shown consistency all year, which the suns themselves haven't as well.

I see them finishing 46-36 or something. Mavs would have to go 4-9 or so to have a worse record.

but I'm comparing 2 bad teams, not a good team and a bad team. Its totally different dude

wtf are you talking about 3 straight games over 140 pts? After making a significant coaching change? Of course i thought the suns of old returned and i never said anything about Amare

Id rather see the Suns take the last spot than Dallas. Suns and the Lakers will be a dogfight since they matchup very well with each other. DAL and LAL will be a sweep for the Lakers.

I gave this no shot about a week ago, but Dallas has been pretty bad.

RonMexico

I don't know if they can do it. I still hold out hope. That loss to the Mavs at home ate balls. April 5 will be a good game if the Suns keep it up. Nash looked good against the 76ers.

The Suns are going to make the playoffs without Amare. I didn't think it was gonna happen a couple weeks ago, but now, looking at the schedule...

My prediction is the Suns will go 10 and 4 to finish the season, have a tied record with the Mavs. If the Suns win in the next meeting, the Suns will own the tie breaker because of in-conference wins.

The Mavs will finish the last 14, including tonight's loss at just under .500
Meaning over the next 13 they go 6 and 7.

Both teams finish 47-35.
http://crono454.googlepages.com/Schedule_prediction.jpg

That's my prediction, but obviously they could be off a bit. The one has to be on the money is PHX @ DAL.

:stirpot:

Lakers' Fans, see you in the playoffs.

Ghazi

FWIW according to your predictions the Mavs would finish 48-34 and the Suns would finish 47-35.

Damn...that's embarrassing...LOL

Add in another loss somewhere for the Mavs...

EDIT:
Fixed

Also for what it's worth, my prediction has them finishing only 1 game worse than Hollinger's machine:

Pretty bold though considering Mavs are 25-8 at home (25-4 since 0-4 start) and you have them going 4-4 in their last 8 home games, including a loss to the Warriors who are 6-28 on the road :).

I guess it's possible, that's why they play the games. We haven't had many tough home games lately (just Spurs since ASB has +.500 record) so maybe I'm overrating how well the Mavs play on their home court.

Mavs wont lose to GSW at home but as for the rest of the predictions, I see it as the worse case scenario of the Mavs dropping some of those games at home.....also remember Barbosa is out 1-3 weeks

Look man, its not going to happen. I mean, the only way that this could POSSIBLY happen is if the team in front of them is capable of a collapse of epic propor . . .

Oh nevermind.

redd96

They still can mathematicly. But without Barbossa and Amare the suns will have to pray the Mavs choke worse than the 2006 finals.

sribb43

Wow could one fan base endure anymore pain within a 3 yr period than the Mavs?

2006 blow 2-0 Finals lead
2007 win 67 games and lose in 1st round
2009 up 6 games with less than 20 left and lose playoff spot to depleted Suns team????????

1. Officiating bias
2. Fluke jump shots
3. Not gonna happen. If they're still hanging around by April 5th the mutha fuckin Dirk will kick their ass JUST like he did 10 days ago.

Everyone just LOVES to knee jerk.

Suns don't have the heart, defense, consistency, talent, or intensity to overcome a 3.5 game gap in such a short span.

I'll eat crow if I'm wrong

This is just like when people thought the Mavs would finish 9th after the Suns beat up on garbage teams and the Lakers and then they proceeded to lose the next 6 games. I knew that road trip would fuck em up while everyone was writing off the Mavs as the odd team out, and their games @ NOLA @ PORT @ Utah will fuck them up too.

Mavs 6th seed BOOK it.

You look at the Jazz's schedule? They may have 6-7 losses left in them.

It's very possible, just gotta get the same record as Portland.

I'd say if we go 10-3 we can get a 6 seed.

Losing to Dallas and that close Cleveland loss I think sealed the suns fate this season. There would have to be some major chokage on the Mavs part.

When the team you're chasing is Dallas, there are endless possibilities.....

Just ask Miami. :hat
