I just don't feel good about the spurs chances of winning with Duncan's knee problem. Sure he has played with major injuries before but this seems far worse then even the plantar fasciatis that he dealt with in '06. Even back then when he had a bad game he was able to comeback strong with a great game. This injury it seems has robbed him of being his normal dominant self. He has had a string of several bad games in a row which I have never seen him have before. Anybody know the odds of this injury getting better to the point that he will atleast be 80 percent of what he normally is because if he doesn't get there the spurs have no chance in hell.

I haven't seen anything that measures how much better he can get.

It's not going away. It's degenerative. It's going to be a matter of severity on any given night. He said he'll manage it and deal with the pain. I assume he'll leave everything he can on the court, he always has.

IMO it's impacted his game more than his ankles and the PF did. I hope he can adjust to it and gain some trust in the knee. Only time will tell.

The off season should give him a better chance at it feeling better.

Oh, and remember, his left knee is chronic and has been bothering him all season. One is bad enough, two is daunting.

I believe in him, I think he will rise. But I'm not sure how powerful he can be with this one.

In to-nights game you could see Tim was favoring the leg. He didn't have much lift on jump shots and they came up short. The other teams are not doubling down on Tim and cheating out to our outside shooters. Until Tim has a big shooting game this will keep on happening.

Time to sit Tim and Keep Manu out till they are healthy. Tim if fucked, and His best days are behind him. No shot at beating the other top 4 teams without a healthy TD and Manu. I think we just should tank the season, get a lottery pick and get TD and Manu healthy for a run next year.

Gooden still not getting alot of PT as Pops goes with Bonner who is worth shit! Fin is playing too many mins and it shows in his lift same problem as last year. The spurs staff from Pops to The training staff have done a sorry job this year.......we have given away games when healthy, that we needed now that we are not.

Bottom line, TD is no longer a franchise player, Spurs need to find a way to get a couple picks this year to add youth on the wing and in the post. The 2010 plan is fools gold, if we dont win it by next year this group has seen its last title.

Will you stfu Tim is still a franshise player.

They can always pump him full of painkillers ala Willis Reed..

he's been looking great on D at least..

Duncan is gonna have to play the KG role this year, with Parker being Pierce, and Manu being Allen..so we're gonna need Tony and Manu carrying more of the offensive load this year, while Duncan is more of an anchor and rebounder..

Tim should also be seeing a lot of time in the high post, as my man Ruff has been saying as well..

I can see it happening. I'm one of the few people that believe that we'll see the real Tim Duncan come playoff time, bad knees and all.

I agree, I've noticed a lot of worrywarts about Tim's knees.

He'll be FINE come playoff time. Tim's a big man, and he's already proven he can play through adversity and he'll give it his all.

I've seen it in both 2005, and 2006 when he wasn't 100 %. These discussions are unnecessary. As long as Timmy's on the court and walking around I'm not bothered, cuz I know in my gut he'll find a way to play through it.

As I said in a thread a week or so ago:

"As long as he has a leg to stand on, if Tim Duncan doesn't show in the playoffs then I would be GRAVELY concerned. He's a totally different beast in the playoffs that will adjust and compensate for any shortcomings physically."

Having said that, the team has been gradually changed over the years to a more perimeter oriented one so as to not lean on Timmy entirely. Duncan often isn't even the main option for game-tying/deciding shots anymore, but he is the team's leader at the end of the day and has been since he took the healm from D-Rob. I do think we have to start looking ahead for our next longterm big (it's only logical, even if for nothing else but to help Tim gracefully ease into the latter stage of his career) but we'll be hardpressed to find someone to replace his leadership amidst all the other skills he brings to the court.

EDIT: And what the hell is wrong with (the concept of) socialism?!

At this point it almost seems Shaq has healthier knees.. maybe Spurs should hire some of the Suns trainers..

there is no problem at all with his knee, i also noticed td was a little bit limping last night but i'm sure he was kind of pretending. Duncan's knee will not be "100% healed" until the playoffs begin.

An Obama isnt a socialist!.......his leg is gone, and the condition will continue to get worse for the rest of his career. While his numbers are solid, he gets beat at both ends of the floor by scrubs, he has no lift on his shot, his D has been avg most of the year and the last 7 games hes avg 15pts and shooting about 40%.

Thats your idea of a franchise player??? Then we need to lock up Matt Bonner to a max deal. Your another Duncan homer that refuses to see the truth. I love TD but hes on his way down as a player and at nearly 33, hes not gonna be a 20-10 guy much longer. Face it!

But when healthy he still is dominate and he put up 20 and 10 before his injury.

Hopefully we can hire some trainers like the Suns have so they can do for Tim what the Suns trainers did for Shaq. I remember Shaq's knees and feet were just about shot a few years ago, and now look at him.

You are a d-bag. Ever hear of loyalty? You need to change your team to the Lakers..or Celtics..that way you can be with the rest of the bandwagon fans. Timmy is a legend here, and still plays just as good if not better than most of the PFs in the league. Please dude..just get out.

IMO, I think even at less than 100% he's still the best PF in the league.

This tendinosis is no joke. He will just have to play through the pain. Here is more info I found on the web pertaining to this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tendinosis
