View Full Version : Bynum for Bosh?

Think about it for a second.

Bosh is bolting Toronto. Everyone knows it. Instead of losing Bosh for nothing the best TOR could hope for is to pick up a young big with monster potential. The Lakers OTOH have a somewhat short window of 3-4 years to win titles while Kobe is in his prime.

If I were them and Toronto was willing to trade Bosh for Bynum I'd think long and hard about that one. Bosh, Gasol, Odom......that's one hell of a front line.

Discuss.

It was discussed in RealGM. Most people could not agree, because Bynum fits the team much better than Bosh with his defense.

The problem with Bosh is that he plays no defense.

Pau & Bosh would be a very porous defensive lineup but hell to deal with on offense.

What would there be to think about? Bosh for Bynum would be rape with no vaseline.

Bosh looked pretty impressive on D in the Olympics. Maybe he's just lazy when he plays on a team going nowhere.

Against kill_bill_pana's kind of players?

Bosh is a bad defender. Some of it's his physical limitations, but yes, a lot of it is laziness. It's not that he's an irredeemably bad, Antawn Jamison level defender, but making Pau Gasol the anchor of your defense is the bigger concern.

On offense, of course, Bosh is a poor man's David Robinson, and the Lakers'd be incredibly good. But like Gasol, he's cowed by physical defenders... that would sound like a recipe for playoff failure.

raptors are not grizzlies, so please stop this delutional dream. raptors are pretty disappointing this season as a result of the bad trade of ford&J O'Neal, but this team still has a pretty healthy frame that will enable them to fight back next season. it's not a good option for raptors to trade their franchise player for a "potential" superstar who seems like a injuryprone even at such a young age.

During the off season, they can be traded straight up.

In that case if the Lakers got Bosh you may aswell give them the title.

Fisher
Kobe
Odom
Gasol
Bosh

With Ariza etc. coming off the bench. That's one hell of a team.

Impossible trade, the Lakers will not even have a true center.
Who trades a 5-6 year contract 21 year old 13-10 big man for a one year rental of Bosh.

The Lakers will also have to resign Odom and Ariza, they are way too deep in the luxury tax.

The only way this team is good is in 2k9, where you cannot defend against anyone. Shaq crossed Garnett over in that game.

Why would TOR want Greg Oden's twin injured brother?

This should be a no-brainer. Bosh is the better player and not as bad a defender as some has posted. Bynum cant even stay on the floor to earn his paycheck. Bynum is looking injury prone early in his carrer. Bosh is a proven all-star that stays relatively healthy and the go-to player for the raptors. On the Lakers he wouldn't have to be the man. Like Gasol he wouldn't recieve as much defensive attention and become even more effecient. No team in the nba would be able to match up and the Lakers become an instant dynasty. Potentialy better than the early 2000's lakers.
The only (potentialy major)problem for the lakers would be their cap situation.

Idk why the Lakers would trade Wilt Chamberlain pt. 2 for Chris Bosh.

It doesn't make sense for us financially and we need more defense not less.

Bosh is 6'10" and 230 lbs. Bynum is 7'0" and 285.

Bynum really must suck for a Laker fan to consider that trade.

That's one thing I was wondering was how the Lakers could afford to even keep their current team in tact.

The current NBA salary cap is a joke and it favors teams with money to throw around rather than teams who manage the salary cap well. That's how they can afford their team.

what's worse, watching an injured Bynum two straight seasons of possibly costing the Lakers a championship, or feeling a tad bit uncomfortable?

I say that because I think it's too early to call Bynum injury prone. He put up 42 points this season (yeah I know against the Clippers). Plus Bynum plays defense.

I wouldn't do this trade because Bynum is a legit center, while Gasol and Bosh are both PF's that can masquerade as centers. Yes I know that it's worrisome that he's been injured the past 2 seasons, but I wouldn't write him off as being injury prone yet. Those two injuries would have taken any player out for extended periods of time. Bosh is nice so it's not a horrible or even bad trade. I just wouldn't do it because pairing a legit PF and C is a nightmare for opposing teams.

Against certain teams and for spot minutes he can. Not that I would want him to. But I agree Bosh and Gasol would be too weak in the middle.
