View Full Version : Rockets have excellent scouts

I was just thinking, that Scola, Lowry, Landry, Brooks, and Wafer were all steals.

Scola brings toughness, scrapiness, hustle, and determination on every play. Scola should be up for most improved player of the year.

Lowry brings excellent defense, and is only 22. He already seems to be an excellent playmaker, and can score whenever he wants.

Landry is a beast on the boards, and has developed a mid-range game.

Brooks is still an unfinished product, but still has the potential to be an all star. All he has to do on the offensive side of the ball is to shoot the ball with confidence, and move the ball effectively.

Wafer is a shot in the arm for the team, bringing tenacity when driving to the basket, but needs work on his defense.

While the Pistons, SuperSonics, Cavaliers and Rockets vied to get Scola's draft rights from the Spurs, Adelman watched tape and was impressed enough with what he saw for Scola to become the Rockets' priority. "I've watched him on tape a lot," Adelman said. "I just think he is a very active player, plays every possession hard. He passes the ball well. I just like the activity more than anything else.

No, I'm serious......with Battier, Houston is always a great defensive team.....I mean I know you being a Allas fan you know nothing about defense, but I care about it.

Rudy Gay puts up empty #s on a bad team.....his #s don't make his team any better. Sorry, again like I said earlier......I liked the trade and still do. Would it be better to have Rudy Gay for the future, most likely, but Houston isn't really built for the future.....Yao only has a couple of more prime years left.

BTW...Ron Artest > than Rudy Gay, he makes more of a impact on the court.

Rockets sign James White through 2009-2010 season

Rockets to Sign White
Through 2009-10

MARK BERMAN (http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/about_us/Mark_Berman)
HOUSTON - The Houston Rocketshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/sports/090323_rockets_sign_white#) have agreed to sign guard/forward James White for the rest of this year and for the 2009-2010 season.
"He will sign the contract (Monday) and the deal includes next year as well," said Bill McCandless, White's agent.
The club had signed White to a pair of 10-day contracts. The second was to expire Tuesday.
He has played in one game so for Houston scoring five points with one steal and one blocked shot.
"This is a testament that hard work eventually pays off and James White has worked very hard," said Bill McCandless, White's agent.
"There were those who believed James might not be able to play in the NBAhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/sports/090323_rockets_sign_white#) but he has really paid his dues which included playing a year in Europe."
McCandeless said White was able to show the Rockets what he is all about.
"It was a given James is a world-class athlete and the Rockets were really sold on all his all-around game and they believe, with some work, he can be a guy who can be in their rotation."
The Rockets signed White out of the NBA D-league where he was averaging 25.9 points for Anaheim.
"James decided in the D-league to use his athleticism and go to the basket instead of settling for the jumper which has been critical to his development," McCandless said.
Prior to that White played in seven games, starting two, for the San Antonio Spurs during the 2006-2007 season. During that stint White averaged 8.3 points a game.

Rudy is a nice player, but Battier is a great fit on this team. Even if we had kept him, he never would of gotten any playing time under JVG and would still be raw. I think we made the right choice, picking up a glue guy and ditching Stro's bloated contract. Wing scorers are a dime a dozen, but a lockdown defender is hard to come by.

Remember that Battier + Miller + Gasol was a playoff team, Gay + Miller + Gasol was a lottery team.

Nope, not faulting......just pointing out that just, because you put up good #s (which they all are), it doesn't mean you're a star like your dumbass is trying to paint Gay. So far Gay is just a more athletic Josh Howard, most nights, just empty stats.....no real impact on the game.

I do believe it....go look at what Gay did against the shitty Heat tonight.

In all honesty, Mayo is passing him up (if he hasn't already) as the real star on that team.

I know Gay would be better for the future, but we didn't need to make a move for the "future", this is a VET team.

You're using tonight as you example? They're 25 games out of the playoffs, most of them have mailed it in and can't wait for vacation.

Mayo probably has passed him up. He's the best rookie out of his draft class, he's bound to be better than some players.

But if want to think the Rockets wouldn't be better without Gay, who would provide a shot in the arm to an offense that looks a bit stagnant at times, then go ahead.
