Matt "The Hammer" Hamill (6-2) and Brandon "The Truth" Vera (10-3) are set for UFC 101 according to a source close to the event.

Vera bounced back on to the scene after he made quick work of Mike Patt in a TKO due to leg kicks in the 2nd round at UFC 96 in Columbus, Ohio.

Hamill also enjoyed victory at UFC 96, when he KO'd Mark Munoz in the 1st round for his second win in a row.

Contracts have been received and are expected to be signed in the very near future.

If Vera is anything close to the hype that once surrounded him he should win this.

With that said...give me Hamill.

Shit that's a very hard fight for My Boy Matt. Vera is a great striker when he is aggressive and if he avoids major damage on the ground, it could be a repeat of the Franklin fight. I do think Matt has learned from that fight, and will be meaner and more ready for this one but it is a tough match-up. Winning this would shoot him to that next level at 205, but it won't be easy..

I think Vera has proven himself to be pretty mentally weak when you push him. If Matt can get it down and do damage, he'll win. But getting it there and the striking Vera has, will be a problem for him..

Matt is just too slow and will take too many shots...

He doesn't have fast hands but he is quick at closing distance for takedowns. He has to get it down, he tries to stand and he will lose..

Matt's win against Tim Boetsch still stick out to me. Not that Tim is a monster but he's another version of Jardine. Its a damn tough win.

I'm sure we agree Evan it really depends on which Vera shows up. If he's aggressive looking to make a statement, Matt will have problems. If things don't go well early, and he backs off it''s Matt fight to lose..

Which Vera?

For sure. If Vera has his head on straight Matt doesn't stand a chance.

Yup but Matt is getting slightly better and better.

I think if he can neutralize Veras striking it will be all good. He is stronger and has the adventage on the ground IMO.
