37.5% shooting from New Orleans, that's Spurs Defense.

We just needed an extra shot or the ref to not make a trash call there at the end.

Why I'm not pleased is that No Peja, No Posey, and especially no Chandler makes shooting low FG%'s much easier.
But true, the Spurs had their chances.

our D has been great for a while..but there's nothing to be happy about here..we lost to a team that we should beat, even when they're fully healthy..so there's no reason to lose when they're missing key guys..

this loss was exactly like the 1st loss we had to NO this year..

The Spurs always seem to struggle in New Orleans...but if it came down to a BIG game there, we ALL know what would happen. :ihit

Pop and the Spurs are just pounding that proverbial rock.. ready or not, come the playoffs, the Spurs will field a roster that in Pop's mind has the best chance of success. All the whhinig and gnashing of teeth on these forums are 100% for the benefit and gratification of ST members and will have zero influence on the way things turn out eventually. So just sit back and appreciate the ride, no matter the outcome. In the end, its just a game.

Classic example of why the box score doesn't tell the entire story. Look at the rebounding stats and tell me how great the Spurs were defensivly. The Hornets are a pretty bad offensive team when missing some of their best offensive weapons but made up for it by crashing the glass.

Sorry, the D wasn't anything to write home about and it certainly wasn't reminiscent of Spurs teams of the past.

New Orleans just missed some shots...

oh wait, are you saying how well a team shoots is in part due to the other team's defense? That would violent your excused of "they just made some shots"... :lol

:wakeupI also think we'll be fine, we just have to play with more focus and intensity at the end of games. Remember folks a playoff series is 7 games not 1.

Let's be brutally honest, the Spurs should win a game where three key players (Chandler, Posey, and Peja) on the opposing team were not available. The Spurs offense looked confused and all to willing to jack threes while New Orleans admitted that they were getting away with single coverage on Duncan.

The defense was good enough (West 6-18 and Paul 8-18), but the Spurs offense looked terrible. True, New Orleans played good defense, but we can't win in the playoffs if we let a team get away with single coverage on Tim Duncan and he only scores 19 points on 6-14 shooting.

Alas, this is a regular season game. We see that we can put the clamps on the Hornents's best players. If this were the playoffs, and we only focused on them for 7 games, no question their weak bench won't perform this well for more than a game or two. And no way the Spurs shooters stay this cold for a 7 game series. So there's nothing to worry about long term.

amen. We have so many knee-jerk reactions to regular season loss like this. Let's trust pop, who gave us 4 rings in 10 years. for the spurs, just keep pounding that rock. Although no break is visible for now, it will crack later on.
