Cuban fined $25,000 for Twitter comment (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/basketball/nba/03/29/Cuban.Twitter.ap/index.html)

The NBA slapped Mavericks owner Mark Cuban with a $25,000 fine Sunday for publicly criticizing the officials after Denver's 103-101 win over Dallas.

Cuban used Twitter to complain after Friday's game that Denver's J.R. Smith was not called for coming off the bench to taunt Antoine Wright after he missed a shot near the Nuggets bench.

Cuban said in another posting Sunday that he "can't say no one makes money from twitter now. the nba does."

In an earlier meeting of the two teams, the Mavericks owner was fined $25,000 after becoming upset about a foul that wasn't called on Smith. Cuban offered to donate the money to whatever charity Smith chose, then suggested he'd give it to the fund for a gruesomely injured hockey player.

So if the fans can comment on the game, why can't he?

I don't understand this at all.

Yeah, what the hell? Coaches and players are allowed to criticize the officiating publicly and aren't ever fined. In fact, I'm not sure how Cuban should even have known he was going to get into any trouble for this. Jeez, the league just fines him out of the blue with no warning or anything. Fuckin' Stern.

Im wondering if this poster is really angry or just sarcastic.

And Im wondering if Mark is fed up with this, or he just wants attention. Either way that could make him sell the Mavs team.

It really doesn't matter for cuban to be fined only 25,000. Cuban is not like the cheapass owners of the spurs and rockets.

I thought players/nba members were not allowed to publicly criticize officiating? Hence why you don't see them whine about it to the media very often.
