this should be called That Hard Rock Show. they really don't cover the whole spectrum of metal. plus everything they know or talk about peaked in the late 90's. his two co-hosts are two of the biggest tools on tv. especially the one that said new metallica is better than old metallica. they do have cool guests. ace was great.

...and i can't wait to see that anvil documentary.

hmm. no i missed it. that is a tough one. song writing wise, eddie takes it. playing-wise i'd give it to eddie with just a slight edge. the trunk chick is a little manly to me.

I thought that it was funny that Eddie Trunk claims to be such a massive Thin Lizzy fan, but when they were shilling that new live cd that just came out recently, he was saying that the recording was made during the Renegade tour. That album didn't come out until '81. Lizzy were touring for the Bad Reputation album when this show was recorded. Phil even mentions that Bad Reputation is their latest album between songs at one point on the album! Did Eddie not even bother to listen to the cd before he raved about it?

WTF?

A Massachusetts cop who urinated over fans at a Metallica concert has been discharged. Brewster Police officer Joseph Houston has also been charged with two counts of assault and battery and one count of open and gross lewdness after drunkenly relieving himself at Metallica's Boston show in January.

Prior to the urination incident, Houston was escorted out of the arena for being drunk and disorderly. He flashed his badge in order to regain admission. And he allegedly exposed himself and urinated on a young couple from Connecticut.

Houston will be arraigned on April 18.

Did you hear Ozzy is suing Black Sabbath? :rolleyes

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne has sued his former band mate Tony Iommi over the ownership of the group's name.

Osbourne, 60, filed a lawsuit in federal court in New York, on Tuesday accusing the guitarist of falsely claiming to be the sole owner of the Black Sabbath name, his representatives said on Friday.

He is also seeking a share of the interest in the Black Sabbath trademark and a cut of the profits that Iommi earned while touring under the Black Sabbath name in the 1990s when the British heavy metal band was in disarray after numerous changes to their lineup.

Osbourne said in a statement issued on Friday that he was sorry he had gone to the court over the dispute with Iommi which he said he had tried for three years to resolve amicably.

Imommi performed in clubs under the Black Sabbath name after Osbourne was thrown out of the band. The original four members -- Osbourne, Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward -- reunited in 1997 and Black Sabbath was inducted in the UK and US Rock&Roll Hall of Fames in 2005 and 2006.

Osbourne said in a statement that it was thanks to the efforts of his management representatives over the past 12 years that "the name 'Black Sabbath' now has a worldwide prestige and merchandising value that it would not have had by continuing on the road it was on prior to the 1997 reunion tour."

"We've all worked too hard and long in our careers to allow you to sell merchandise that features all our faces, old Black Sabbath album covers and band logos, and then you tell us that you own the copyright. We're all in our 60s now. The Black Sabbath legacy should live on long after we have all gone. Please do the right thing," Osbourne said.

FREE REIGN featuring the Dallas Cowboys' # 75 Marc Colombo, # 71 Cory Procter and # 70 Leonard Davis along with local guitar virtuoso Justin Chapman have signed a world wide deal with Australia’s Riot Entertainment. Their upcoming debut EP is set for release in the fall.

Free Reign has been branded "heavier than metal" for their intense musical style as well as their intimidating stage presence. They bring something unique to this powerful genre.

“This is an amazing opportunity for Riot and to further establish our name internationally,” said Riot Owner / CEO John Howarth. “Free Reign is a band with massive potential. There has been an enormous buzz surrounding them since they appeared on the scene a few months ago. Free Reign has already been flooded with endorsements. Their marketing potential is limitless. These guys are already huge sports stars, but they have shown they have the talent to diversify. I am positive that Metal fans will embrace Free Reign and see them take it to the next level. These are exciting times for Riot and we are excited to see what the future holds. When the opportunity arose to work with Free Reign I jumped to it! This is something that has never been done before and this band is a long term project. It’s also been great working with John Gomez of TQ Management putting this deal to bed”.

"The members of Free Reign and myself are equally excited to be working with John Howarth and his team at Riot Entertainment” said Free Reign Manager John Gomez. “Riot has a great track record and they work hard for their Artists, we all look forward to a bright future together and are honoured to call Riot our new home."

Riot is also the new home for FOZZY, fronted by WWE Wrestling superstar Chris Jericho and featuring STUCK MOJO mastermind Rich Ward.

“I would love to see a double bill with these bands, imagine that! No security needed!” suggested John Howarth. “I know that would be one hell of a gig. Imagine WWE, NFL, Fozzy and Free Reign fans all under the one roof; only the strong would survive!”

Free Reign play their last gig before the NFL Season on Saturday, June 27 at the House of Blues in Dallas.

It was in San Bernadino, CA. My brothers met some folks from Texas who they hung out with most of the time. A taxi showed up and out walked these two dark skinned guys and we couldn't recognize them. :lmao I think one of my brothers still has the tshirt. :wow

Dude! Did you know this? :(

12/9/09: In Los Angeles and woke up this morning to some very sad and tragic news that Kerri Lee Tucker AKA "Miss Box Of Junk" on That Metal Show has passed away. I have no details at all as to what happened. Kerri was a great part of the show and we had fun with her on the days we shot. I did not know her well outside of our working relations but she was fun to have as part of TMS in Seasons 2 & 3. We featured her prominently in our final skit of season 3 which just aired and featured Peter Criss. A fun day at Le Cirque. My condolences to her friends, fans and family and she will be missed as an asset to TMS. More info when I have it and return to the East Coast on Friday. This has been a big shock to all. RIP Kerri Lee.

Posthumous albums should come affixed with a field of red flags. Obviously, the artist isn't around to sign off on the project, and the degree to which the star is both financially exploitable and creatively overmined tells fans just how cautiously they should proceed before plunking down any cash.

In Jimi Hendrix's case, that's with as much caution as you'd use to defuse an atom bomb. Countless "rare" or "never-before-released" recordings have risen from Hendrix's coffin in the 40 years since his death, either officially or via bootleg. The fact that 10 years have passed since we've seen an official Hendrix release - a stretch broken by the new "Valleys of Neptune" CD - says more about the settling of longstanding lawsuits than it does about the sudden revelation of a creative gold mine.

The embattled Hendrix estate finally struck a deal with Legacy Records to reissue his classic work this year, spearheaded by "Valleys." The "new" disk touts 12 "fully realized studio recordings" offering 60 minutes of "never commercially available" music.

Technically, that's true, though several songs will be familiar to even casual fans. They include "Stone Free," heard in a less exciting version than the original, and "Red House," which has been issued in scores of versions before.

You've got to read the fine print to recognize the rarity of the takes here, many of which are, by Hendrix rehash standards, indeed individual enough to deserve attention.

Also, the pieces come from a fascinating time — a four-month stretch in 1969 that featured the final recordings of Hendrix's evolving Experience band. Some of them include new bassist Billy Cox. The result doesn't give a clear sense of where Hendrix was going. Neither does it have the surprise, or coherence, of a "lost" album. But, then, it's frickin' Hendrix, so the screaming guitars, spidery bass and thumping drums can't help but thrill.

A retread track like "Fire" may not gain much from the addition of wimpy backup vocals from Andy Fairweather Low. But who can deny the roiling sex of the thing to begin with?

Luckily, there's more singular fare, including a take on Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love" that provides an implicit dialogue between one great power trio and another. The full band version of "Hear My Train A Comin'?" stands in bracing contrast to the acoustic version that appeared in the early '70s. And songs like "Ships Passing Through the Night" and "Crying Blue Rain" have never before enjoyed a sanctioned release.

So who should buy "Valleys"? Completists, obviously, and young'uns new to the fire in Hendrix's fingers and the punch of his band. As for everyone else: "Valley" won't make you see Hendrix in a new light, but it will remind you of how brightly that light shone to begin with.

The last I heard, apart from the family, no one knows or has said anything on how "Miss Box Of Junk" died. It'd be interesting to know exactly what happened.

On the subject of "That Metal Show", the guys are coming out here in April to tape half of the season's shows in L.A.. Me and a couple friends are going to go for shits and giggles, since we tend to gravitate toward catastrophies.

There are countless bands from Sweden who leave Katatonia in the dust. Their best days have long since passed. I've never understood the clamour for Opeth, either. Their songs are painfully long, boring and go nowhere.

For the record, I was there among the unwashed masses on "Heavy Metal Sunday" (as it was called) in '83. Priest were great, people slept during Triumph, the Scorpions were amazing, and David Lee Roth was drunk as hell.

No, I haven't heard anything about how she died either. They didn't even mention her when the new season started, just a msg at the end of the show.

I like both of those bands. :( But I agree, some of the best heavy metal bands come from Sweden and Norway.
