We got rid of speed, youth, & scoring because we believed Kidd had leadership, true PG abilities, & toughness (both mental and physical). Kidd is shooting 40% from the arc. Fucking perfect playing next to Kobe and in the triangle. He can hit the open jumper, he can push the basketball, he can pass/rebound, makes good decisions with the basketball and he's a better defender than any current PG the Lakers have.

Hopefully Buss ponies up cash while keeping Ariza and Odom.

Given that he's been the go-to scoring option most of his career the increase in his % doesn't seem like an aberration at all. He's getting more open looks due to defenses focusing Dirk. In the triangle next to Kobe, those open looks would only increase. That and Kidd has been playing plenty of 2 guard in a spot up shooter role this season. It would be the same drill in LA where the PG isn't required to handle the ball as much.

Anyways, the point is Kidd is worlds better at driving and finishing compared to Fisher and brings a slew other positives to the PG position that does not exist on the Lakers atm.

while it was dumb trading youth for an aging veteran, there is still no denying that Kidd is an above average guard. there was really nothing much more he could do in Dallas. he is what he is, a player who can push the basketball, a great passer, good spot up shooter, and his solid frame makes him a good defender. he isn't a premier scorer. its not his fault that Dallas is a team full of jump shooters without much athleticism.

Kidd is washed up. His legs can't sustain the style he wants to play at. He f'ed the mavs, mavs don't have the personnel or coach that Kidd plays with so Cuban fucked up and brain farted on that one.
