Time Warner Cable San Antonio says it will rebroadcast the celebrity roast of San Antonio Spurs legend and NBA Hall of Famer George Gervin beginning Wednesday exclusively on its San Antonio On Demand Channel 998 free of charge for customers with digital cable boxes.

The San Antonio cable company says it will also contribute one dollar to the George Gervin Youth Center for each viewer who tunes in to the replayed broadcast during the month of April — up to $10,000.

The roast features a number of NBA greats, including Bill Russell, Julius Erving, Artis Gilmore, Clyde Drexler and host Sean Elliott. The event was held on March 21.

Gervin was traded from the Spurs in 1985. But when the Iceman announced his retirement from the league the following year, it was the Spurs who retired his No. 44 jersey.

Gervin, who founded his Youth Center in 1991, still lives in San Antonio and works with the Spurs organization.

Time Warner officials say the company’s donation to the George Gervin Youth Center will support educational and outreach initiatives aiding more than 1,400 San Antonio youths and their families.

“Time Warner Cable has always placed a high priority on good corporate citizenship and public service,” says Gavino Ramos, vice president of communications for the company. We are honored to be able to support a legend like George Gervin and his foundation to further aide San Antonio’s youth.”
