i was just wondering what you all thought. i think they have a small chance, but i want your opinions

It does not look good. IF the Spurs can get healthier and IF the Spurs can set a rotation and IF the Spurs can find a back up pg situation that works and IF Pop can find a way to get this team defending and focused then the Spurs have a moderate chance.

But as things stand today, no they do not. We will see in 8 more games.

If Pop gets serious about the team rotations then yes there will be a chance

Lets just put it this way; I have a better chance of getting my dick sucked by Scarlett Johanson tonight than the Spurs do of beating the Lakers in the playoffs.

Lakers will win the next 10 titles after LeBron signs there for the MLE and Shaq for the minimum.

The Spurs have other teams to worry about than the Lakers as well as things stand today.

The Spurs are the favorites to win the championship. I don't know what the big deal is...our last five losses have been by an average of 2.4 points..that's an average of losing each game by a bucket and a half.....in order words, an extra shot here or there and that's 5 more wins.

if it was one game, then i would say maybe.

but the chances of the Spurs beating the Lakers 4 out of 7?

HELL NO!

the only way the Lakers will lose in the West is if they take a team too lightly. i.e. Dallas, but if they match up with SA in the WCF your gonna get their best, which is a lot better than you

Of course they do! Even if it isnt all sunshine these last games. How you can you say spurs dont have a chance? that a lakers fan says it, ok, that's just about rivalry, but some spurs fans? We do have a chance!!!!

Based on the results from the head to head matchup this season, I'd say nil to none but you never know until they meet on the court....that is, if they meet on the court during the playoff run.

The only team that has a shot of stealing a game in LA is maybe the Hornets. If that awful colossal rare mistake by CP3 never did happen, the Hornets would have split the series with the Lakers--winning in LA twice...

HOWEVER, I see the Hornets getting eliminated in the 1st round (If not Healthy).

of course they have a chance. upsets do happen in sports. but with the way Poopavitch is coaching lately, it's not likely. even if he were coaching flawlessly, the Lakers with home-court advantage would be a daunting challenge.

that being said, i'm still going to root for them and hope for the upset.

Spurs have as small a chance as it gets in sports. Not zero, but not very high either.

They'd do well to win two games.

No doubt they have a chance, their experience alone could allow them to push the series to 7 gms, but a healthy Ginobili is key. Parker's been a beast for the Spurs this season but they need their 3rd guy to have a chance at making it all the way.

Spurs can compete if they turn up that extra gear they seem to have in the playoffs and Ginobili can regain his form in time.

Spurs are getting better offensively with the return of Ginobili and the acclimation of Gooden into the offense, but they've been a very shaky defensive team all year and that'll be their downfall. They just don't have the quickness on defense due to age and wear-and-tear to stay with the Lakers. Hell, look at last night's game as a perfect example: http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=290403011

The Spurs shot 55% from the field (41% from 3), made 27-31 FTs (w/ 12 more attempts than Indiana), outrebounded Pacers by 9, had only 4 more TOs, and had nearly 7 players in double figures--yet they squeaked out a win against the 32-44 Pacers who have nothing to play for. In any other season if you were to look at that San Antonio boxscore alone you'd think they won by 30. They simply don't have the defense or the consistent offense to beat LA

yes, spurs do have a chance against the Lakers. Last year we got eliminated because we had alot of droughts, but hopefully this year we have players who can score for us when we do get in these droughts such as Matt Bonner and Roger Mason. Last year Mason wasnt on the Spurs and Bonner was a scrub. Manu wasn't 100%. This year we have proved that we can beat Lakers. The Lakers are really overrated.

:lol By 1 point in San Antonio on a BS foul call on fisher. LA knows they can go into SA & win games. I highly doubt the spurs will take 4 games but we'll see. Face it, SA just doesn't match up well with the Lakers. Tim Duncan is sick & all but he cannot handle Gasol, Bynum, & Odom trio down low. LA also has another pretty good player named Kobe Bryant :lol. If SA doesn't shoot atleast 50% from three they will not win 2 games IMO.

Only with:

1 - A healthy Tim Duncan. Spurs fans have been delusional since the start of the season. Duncan has been a defensive hindrance and he hasn't been improving.

2 - Bowen, Mason and Manu to throw at Kobe.

Regardless, the Lakers are the favourites.

if both teams are health enough (ginobli and bynum) lakers will win. home court and lakers can throw bynum, gasol, odom at duncan spurs can only throw mason, ginobli at lakers, and if they throw bowen at them his defense helps but the spurs offense dies with him

With the way the playoffs are aligning, the Lakers could wind up doing a Texas "3" Step (Mavs 1st round, Rockets 2nd round, Spurs Finals). Has this ever happened before in the history of the playoffs?

carrao45

Celtics are the favorites if healthy.

No they are not. the Lakers swept them this season. beating them in Boston, on the 2nd game of a back to back and the third game in 4 days, with less then 24 hours rest between the Boston game and the game before it. That was done without our starting center. The Celtics were healthy for that game (they lost anyway) and the game in staples (which they also lost). The only teams that could beat the Lakers in the Finals are the Magic and the Bobcats, neither of which will make the Finals.
