I can feel it in the air. Dirk shooting lights out and they're still losing by one.

LOL at Grizzlies announcer saying Conley is a top 5 pg.

A lineup of Kidd/JET/Barrea/Bass/Singleton is not a lineup for success?

No way.

fixed.

so if we get the #8 seed we play the mighty Lakers and the #7 seed gives us the 40 point game 7 losing Rockets who havent won a first round series since the fall of the Soviet Union.

Ahhh Dirk missing FT's, Grizzlies hitting pure luck shots, why God why!. Cmon guys!

I think the Nuggets will get the 2nd seed. They owned the Mavs pretty bad in the regular season, but I'd rather play them than the Lakers.

Yeah..Nugs or Spurs will get the 2 seed. Rockets schedule is too tough. We'll have to see...Nugs are up a half game right now.

As I predicted, once they got rid of Iavaroni and his Mayo/Gay vs. 5 offense, Conley proved to be, not a top-5 pg, but a legit NBA prospect.

id rather play anybody in the west than Lakers. the only series that i would feel really comfortable with is houston

None taken..no one wants to play LA if they don't have to...I agree 100%. I think Dallas could beat Denver.

Mannnn Dirk had a great game but that was just frustrating down the stretch.

This likely secured our place as the 8 seed, unless we win out (not likely)

Very frustrating loss.

At this point, the Grizzlies are a more talented team than the Mavericks. They needed to executed well which they did, the Mavs gave a piss poor effort defensively, Grizzlies win. No surprises here.

As soon as I saw the headline "Mavs only 1 game away from the 7 seed" I knew immediately that the Boys In Blue would take another golden opportunity and piss it away. Like they've done all season.

The defense stepped up for the mavs down the stretch. This loss falls squarely on Dirk and JET's shoulders IMO.

The Grizzlies hit a bunch of luck shots though, along with that bizarre play to end the 3rd giving them 2 points.

But such is the game

Ugh.

No shot? The Mavs have 5 very losable games in their final 6 games, and the Suns have 5 should-wins out of our final 7 games.

Ghazi
04-03-2009, 09:53 PM
Actually mono if we lose on Sunday the door is very open for the Suns since they would have a tie breaker advantage. Their schedule is kinda cushy down the stretch.

*sigh*, I'm kinda deflated at this point. I was holding out hope for a higher seed but 8th is just the fucking death note. No shot against the Lakers. At least a slim shot against a team like the Spurs/Nuggets/Rockets.

*sigh*

At least we have our 2006 NBA Championship.

You don't think it's at least PLAUSIBLE the Mavs could go 2-3 down the stretch and the Suns could go 4-1? They have the tie breaker.

I'm not saying it's probable.

In all likelihood the Mavs will seal the Suns fate on Sunday, but I'm just saying.

FWIW I know for a while I was proclaiming Phoenix is done but I guess that was because of the assumption that Mavs could win games on their home court against Denver and beat the Grizzlies on the road.

I give them a 10% shot. Sorry if it sounds like I'm back pedaling.;)

Wow...the impossible just happened. Jazz lost to a horrible team...at home! If the impossible happens one more time (against the Warriors or Clippers), the Suns could still beat the Jazz into the playoffs, since the Jazz have 4 road games against winning teams.

fuck you Mavs...Jazz lose at home to the T-Pups and you take a shit in Memphis. This team has no sack and Carlisle is a fuckin moron. Stop playing that 3 guard lineup of Kidd, Barea and JET. Wonder why the Grizz got back in the game in the 2nd quarter or why you got outrebound like a bunch of midgets... :bang

Well that all but guarantees a loss to Phoenix on Sunday. If the Mavs have any chance of improving their playoff positioning, rest assured they'll find the most efficient way possible to piss that opportunity away.

There are no excuses for the Mavs losing to a shitty team like the Grizzlies. They can't afford to lose games right now. With this Mavs team, anything is possible so they need to win as many games as they can because the Suns aren't going to just lay down without a fight.

Mavs aren't good enough to have "inexcusable" losses IMO.

We're just not that good.

Besides, its the NBA. Thunder beat Spurs, Kings almost beat Hornets, 7 man Warrior team beat Hornets, TWolves won @ Utah. It happens. EVERY team is fighting for positioning in the West, except for the Lakers.

Earlier in the year I think we were benefiting from Terry playing EXTREMELY well along with Dirk.

Now that Terry's cooled off it's just Dirk really. Dirk + a mediocre assemable of offensive/defensive talent means on any night we can have "inexcusable" losses, therefore they actually are kinda excusable.

But that's why J-Ho is necessary for this team. He can bail the team out if Terry has an off night, kinda like against Miami.

But, I don't buy such a thing as an "inexcusable" loss in the NBA. Grizzlies got some young talent, very good wing players (v an atrocious perimeter D), and the Mavs aren't very good and down a player which makes it even worse. It's not exactly surprising why the Mavs lost this game.

all I know is we better protect the home f'ng court if we want at least a shot at the 7 seed and the Nuggets. still a likely loss but give me them over the Lakeeers.

It doesn't help when Dirk can't buy a bucket in the last 3 minutes of the game... He couldn't miss just minutes earlier...
