NBA power rankings: April 5, 2009 (http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/spurs/NBA_power_rankings_April_5_2009.html)
Mike Monroe

TOP 10

(Last rank in parentheses)

1. Lakers (2): Newest hero? DJ Mbenga; “Mbenga’s Bangers” reminiscent of Rambis Youth.

2. Cavaliers (1): Who’s going to pay for loss to Wiz and humiliation in Orlando? Um ... who’s next on their schedule? Why, the Spurs.

3. Magic (3): Blowout of Cavs was just their eighth, in 14 games, against playoff-bound teams since losing Jameer Nelson.

4. Nuggets (6): They’re on a roll, but Karl has put Anthony on temper alert. Top scorer just two technicals shy of a suspension.

5. Trail Blazers (8): Warning to potential first-round foe: better have home-court advantage. They’re 31-7 at Rose Garden.

6. Celtics (5): Bostonians holding their breath with Garnett shut down for rest of regular season, but they’ve won four straight without him.

7. Spurs (4): Which will come first? End of the world, or Ginobili’s next assignment to come off bench?

8. Rockets (7): Rarely used Mutombo says this season will be his last, and swears he really means it this time.

9. Suns (15): They may have found their mojo too late to make playoffs, but they’re making Mavs and Jazz sweat.

10. Hornets (10): They were going to move up on this list before Friday loss to Warriors, who had only seven healthy players.
