Manu only with 23 mins and TD only with 25 mins isnt going to cut it. Obviously Pop could care less about the reg. season.

Bowen missing that easy lay up was painful...

also Pop benching manu is stupid. Manu is a 4th quarter guy.

Yeah, really...because if Bowen had made that layup, the Spurs would only lose this game by 13 instead of 15... :lol

peskypesky
04-05-2009, 02:12 PM
bowen doesn't do much to earn minutes though. how could he miss this layup after tony's assist ?????

you think maybe he's rusty after sitting on the bench the whole fucking season?

timmy needs touches...did we forget that he's out there?

Yeah, I am a little disturbed he's only had 6 shot attempts. WTF? Spurs have been playing Suns-style offense too much today - jacking up quick shots.

You are more ridiculous man

I don't think it was good.It was not too bad if you think he's hurt and he onnly was played 22 minutes. If KT do that numbers we would say he's playing well.TD isn't playing well but it's not only his fault.

Well, fuck, this team is garbage. Pop has ruined them on two fronts, horrible shit for brains coaching and a craptacular front office. We could have had artest this past off season, the rotations could have some sort of logic behind them, he could of managed hill and mason better. He just all around bent us over and took it to us this season.

The fact that Duncan's knees are shot is bad. But Gooden could make up for some of that if Pop started him.

OK guys heres the problems....and hopefully BY NOW Pop was realized the shit he has done. Vaughn is DONE. Udoka should not be playing. Bowen should get his spot back. No way are we going to win a game with Manu playing 23 mins, going 2-9, and 0-6 from 3 and TD shooting 2-7 in only 25 mins. Bright spot of the game: Gooden. More Gooden and Thomas, less Bonner.

Funny, they finally get the lineup they should be starting on the floor (Parker, Mason, Bowen, Duncan, Gooden) and they go to this weird zoneish defense where they just chase whoever has the ball with two defenders. How does Delonte West end up with two wide open threes because you were running a soft double team on Boobie Gibson?

Shit, we can't even set a damn rotation 7 games from the playoffs! pathetic. Never have I felt a spurs team with such little identity at this point in the year. Fucking simple. Defense first. Use your young talent instead of banking on one-dimensional and inconsistent vets.

Vaughn is consistent, in that he sucks. And why he got over 3x the minutes Hill did, no one but Pop understands.

If Manu continues to start, then keep Gooden in the 2nd unit(he's been so efficient as a Spur it's unreal). He likes to score, which wouldn't work with all the Big 3 on as well.

Well Bowen got 17 minutes, so half my wishes for this game came true.

EDIT: And lol at Hill being the only pos in the +/- stat. Another reason why that stat blows chunks, Gooden and TP should've been the only positives this game.

all I can hope is that Pop's lack of concern for the regular season is the explanation for all this. i'll try to refrain from bashing him any more til I see what he does in the playoffs. if he shortens the rotation and puts his best players on the court in the post-season, then we still have a fighting chance. like buster douglas against mike tyson.

Fuck that end of an era talk. This team can be fixed. People fully recover from tendonosis. Ginobli was getting into a groove right before his recent injury (remember how long it took him to adapt, it's going to take a few more games). I've been a big JV defender on this site, and I'm probably one of the first people to suggest that Pop use him as the backup point guard when Mason was looking so bad.

That said, Pop brought in JV and he wasn't even running the point! Why in the name of God and Sonny Jeebus would he do that? We know Hill can play defense, and he shoots at least as well as Vaughn does. What's worse is that he called timeout and DIDN'T TAKE HIM OUT.

From now I'll root for the cavs, I don't want to see another lakers ring and I don't to see KG with another too !! so let's go cavs !

When I was in the Team Choice store the other day, I noticed the LeBron James jerseys were hanging right next to the Manu Ginobili jerseys...must be a sign...I agree...FTL...go Cavs! :toast

Fuck that end of an era talk. This team can be fixed. People fully recover from tendonosis. Ginobli was getting into a groove right before his recent injury (remember how long it took him to adapt, it's going to take a few more games). Artest and Rasheed will be available this off season, replacing Bonner and Bowen. Finely and KT will probably be gone as well, freeing up space for a youth movement.

Yeah because the Spurs can afford Artest and Wallace, right? Also, Bonner is under contract, Finley has a player option and will likely stay, and KT is under contract, too. Unless you want to buyout all of those contracts for the Spurs, absolutely nothing you said will ever happen....maybe Rasheed, but that's it.

I couldn't believe it either when JV was STILL IN after that timeout. I thought they called the timeout to get Hill in.

Disappointing loss to be sure but it's not the end yet, still believe in the Spurs.

I'm out to drink some beers, enjoy the rest of your Sunday guys.

I think KT is doing an okay job coming off the bench both on offense and defence

He had a front row seat while Lebron James scored 16 straight points in the first quarter. Too bad you missed it.

Sure, but he is also a hell of alot better than the scrub Udoka, who decided to show up for a game or two this season, then he took a vacation again.

Bowen and Finley > Udoka

Gooden and Thomas > Bonner

Vaughn and Udoka should be getting ZERO minutes.

Bowen should be starting, Finley should be filling in when the liability that is his defense isn't as glaring, and Udoka should be scanning the want ads.

Gooden should be starting, Thomas should be coming in for spurts and using up his fouls. Bonner, while pretty good all-around, can't buy a call for the life of him and just costs the team opportunities, whether or not it's his fault.

If this game isn't Vaughn's swan song in the Spurs rotation, the coach needs a CAT scan.

Doesn't help with two of the big three go 3 of 14.

That being said, its encouraging that Bowen got the majority of the minutes in the second half over Finley.

1) Spurs won't get both, I don't think Artest is a great pickup, and I'd rather have Gooden if he does this in the POs.

2) Neither Bowen nor Bonner expire as far as I'm aware, it's only Ime and Fab who aren't guaranteed, which fits what you want anyways.

3) Fin will mostly likely play next season, it's his choice. I hope he decides to retire, but I doubt it, cuz it'd be too awesome to have only Gist/Hairston/Bowen at sf.

4) I want KT to stay, a big rotation of Tim/Gooden/Ian/KT/Bonner looks nice to me.

I'm not giving up on the spurs, but if I had to root for another team, it wouldn't be the cavs. I'd rather see the Jazz win, or the Rockets. I honestly cant stand very many NBA teams (as opposed to the NFL).

Agreed.

My starting 5 would be

Parker
Mason
Bowen
Gooden
Duncan

Ginobili
Bonner
thomas
Finley bench

I could see it happening.

Encouraging though to see Mason want to shoot the ball in the second half.

Hopefully he keeps that up and then the shots will fall.

Artest has a contract worth about 9 million, Rasheed's is the same. That's the price of adding one Vince Carter, which we were planning on doing. I thought Bonner was only partially guaranteed. And I was banking on Finely and KT retiring. They're 37 years old. And do people really think Bowen will be here next year?

I'll grant that he's better than Udoka, but there's no way to suggest that's saying anything significant. Pop took Finley out and put him back in (during the aforementioned 'JV getting torched' timeout) BEFORE Bowen ever made an appearance. Starting Finley at the three when you know Lebron James is looking to make a statement is just inexplicable.

All in all, I think the Spurs are just settling too much for jump shots. Ginobili and Mason are forcing shots, and Ginobili should be driving to the basket ALOT more than he is. I mean, obviously the Spurs would have had a much better chance if Duncan and Manu played decently, and Pop needs to seriously have the doctors look at his brain.

Maybe.

But Hill's problem is hes very very green and All things considered I'd rather Ginobili run point than Vaughn.

Hill's foul near the end of the game against Indiana IMO sealed his fate.

One of the dumbest fouls I've seen since Parker fouled Rip Hamilton near the end of game 7 in 05.

I think Duncan was being too unselfish when he had opportunities to do something on offense. After guys weren't hitting their shots, he should have gone in there and taken over.

You'd have to ask the individual players why they didn't shoot more.

Ginobili needs to drive the fucking ball, this thinking he's Dale Ellis Bullshit has got to stop.

Duncan I can see why if his knees were hurting that he'd be passive.

Ginobili's unagression is very akin to 2007 before the playoffs started and seemed to last all through the playoffs until game 4 in Utah.

I'll go back and watch the game again, but I'm pretty sure Manu was going quite aggressively to the basket in this game. They turned into a jump shooting team in the second quarter, but that was mostly due to the lineup on the floor.

Some VERY VERY good things came out of todays loss:

1. Bowen got the most mins he has gotten in a long time. Hopefully he is back for good now.

2. Gooden looks pretty damn good and hopefully we see more of him and Thomas with TD, and less Bonner.

3. Manu and TD combined for what was it? 10 points. Not going to happen very often.

4. Hopefully Vaughn and Udoka are DONE...and are only used for garbage mins.

Maybe pop has already decided on his play-off rotation

if this game is an indicator it would be;

duncan, matt, finley, manu, tony

drew and mason as the main subs

and kurt, bruce, vaughn as spot defensive role

If that's the case, Pop has almost nothing to do now but wait and hope timmy and manu gets healthier, and it seems it's what he's doing

We can still get on a roll and crush everybody in the april and may but the odds are well against us

Finley couldn't guard Lebron but neither could Bowen, Ginobli, Mason, or Udoka. He can rise above everyone one of them and shoot right over the top. I thought Finley and Bowen did a good job of making him shoot jumpers but he's much improved in that area now.

Parker and Gooden were the only ones to play well and consistent.

Ginobli had some nice attacks to the basket but settled for too many 3s. I think he was 0-6?

Rotations sucked most the game. Parker and Mason left Williams and West in the corners too many times.

Duncan had no lift and it's painful to watch him struggle in the paint of have to settle for outside jumpers just to keep from getting pounded down low.

Mason was quiet most the game until hitting a couple jumpers in garbage minutes but it might help him get going again.

Pop needs to bench Vaughn and Udoka again. More Bowen and Hill are a must.

Basketball is all about confidence. Lebron was clearly capable of scoring in bunches in 2007 like he did against Detroit, but Bowen was able to keep him from going off for the entire NBA finals. By the time Bowen came in today, Lebron had his shot and his game going thanks to 16 straight points on Finley in the first quarter. Same deal with Vaughn playing in the second quarter. By the time someone else came in to cover Williams and West, it was too late because they were shooting with confidence.

How anyone would put JV over Hill for D has spent too much time in his winery, sampling all the best years.

I want them to go 5-3 to end the season, so they need to be 4-2 the rest of the way. If Pop can have the rotation more or less set by Utah, I'll be content. But if they lose to Sac, that will be major cause for concern.:(
