Maybe he got ejected cause he shot a ref.

Pathetic. The Coyote went nuts when Beno got nailed by Wally, wasn't on the court, but was gesturing on the end line at Wally.
Jess Kersey (what would the NBA be without Jess Kersey? A: a lot better place) threw the Coyote out.

Give him the game ball! Probably told the ref the truth = they are blind.

I can't believe a ref allowed himself to engage a mascot. Mascots are supposed to mock the refs. What a tool. :lmao

It cracks me up that it was Jess Kersey. If you called me up and said "Aggie Hoopsfan, the Coyote got tossed by a ref tonight", and asked me to guess who it was, Jess Kersey would have been my first guess.
:lmao

What I don't undertsand is the announcers calling him "Wile E. Coyote."
That's classic.
Leave it up to our Coyote. Definitely the best in the business...
Although the new guy doesn't quite live up to Tim Derk, this little stunt definitely earns him a gold star...

I'm guessing they skipped that part in the media guide.
If it were Blanks and Land, then yeah, give 'em shit, but the ESPN guys that don't follow the team as closely aren't expected to know that.
I mean, what other thing do you think of when you see a big, cartoonish coyote?

Why would a team name their mascot after a cartoon character who is trademark by Warner Brothers?
You could tell the guy just saw that he was a Coyote and included the name. And they have a producer in their ear who they can relay info to and from. Why not ask what the name of the mascot is during the commerical. And they're on national tv, they're pro's, they should check on their info before throwing stuff out there.

Referee Jess Kersey angrily ejected The Coyote, San Antonio's mascot, in the third quarter for being on the court during play.:lol

My point exactly.
Think any commentator knows the names of all the NBA mascots?

From the director and/or producer saying "Dissolve to commercial..." to "3, 2, 1...mic and cue them", I'm guessing they had a few other things to talk about and set up.
So he made an assumption about a mascot, it's not like he said Tim Duncan was a lesbian eskimo.

Good lord, it's a mascot, they were having fun with it.
Those of y'all bitching about it must be related to Jess Kersey. Relax, laugh, it'll be okay.

Again, no team can name a mascot after a trademarked character.
He should know that. He should have done what Tim Legler (sp?) did and just call him the Coyote.

It's a 2 and a half minute break.
I'm sure he could have said, what's the name of the Coyote. Maybe to whoever's in his ear or to someone next to him.
He wasn't combing the desert looking for Moses' bones.

I'm sorry, did I say somewhere that the Coyote was named after a trademarked character?
Again, I don't think the ESPN guys (much less any commentator or anybody not you) keep a running list of the Looney Tunes stashed in their brain at the drop of a hat's notice (IE: crucial seconds in a television show).

And I'm sure that Kersey went right over to the ESPN guys as soon as 2:30 started to countdown to say the Coyote was ejected.
On a night the Spurs defeated a rival pretty handily and you're yapping about "Wile E.".
On a night the Spurs defeated a rival pretty handily and I'M ARGUING WITH YOU ABOUT IT.

The play by play guy called him Wile E. Coyote after the cartoon character.
Because he didn't know what the Coyote's name is.
He should know that a team cannot name a mascot after a trademarked character. He's the guy on ESPN. He should know.
I'm done, this got old 10 hours ago.

Yes, but the team was owned by Disney when they were named.
So will the ejection show up in the boxscore?
How exactly DOES a ref indicate an exclamation point with hand signs? :blah

Nice job, coyote. This coyote does get a little close to the action. Earlier this year he almost took out Jason Kidd's knees during a skit.
But I want Reggie to come in here and give his take on what happened. I never saw you go on the court. What's up?

But Blaze???!!!! How could they have used a trademarked name??? All TV people should know the names of all 423 Pokemon, the 27 Power Rangers, the 216 Looney Tunes, and the 7 dwarfs!!!
And the T-Wolves should sue Kersey for calling the Coyote a "wolf". That's obviously their TM!

Spurs notebook: Official doesn't feel any love for Coyote

Express-News Staff Writer
The Coyote, the Spurs' furry and supposedly lovable mascot, was ejected after Wednesday's third quarter.
"That," Tim Duncan said, "is the greatest thing I've ever heard."
After Wally Szczerbiak cracked Spurs guard Beno Udrih with a hard foul at the Spurs' basket, the Coyote pretended like he was going to run at the Minnesota guard. It was a skit the mascot has used frequently, but one veteran official Jess Kersey apparently didn't find too funny.
Kersey, who didn't like how close the Coyote was to the court, walked over to the scorer's table and told Don Costante, the team's director of game operations and promotions he was ejecting the mascot.
"I want the wolf out of here!" Kersey said. "He's gone! Now!"
The Coyote never returned.
It's unclear whether the Coyote will be subjected to the $1,000 fine, or whether he even has a bank account.
"You can't get mad at the Coyote for doing that," Spurs forward Robert Horry said. "He was just trying to get the crowd hyped.
"That was another bad call."
