Talk about the Dodgers here. I don't think there are many other Dodger fans here, so it might be me talking to myself.

Opening pitch in 30 minutes. Kuroda starting.

It is kind of a dump. You must not have been to any newer stadiums.

Dodger Stadium is a bit of a dump.

Dodgers always lose to the padres, which is why i was surprised they won opening day against Peavy. The second game wasn't surprised. With some decent pitching the Dodgers will win the West easily. We just need our young pitchers to step up. A tall order but not impossible. And if they can't hopefully a midseason trade for some teams ace.

IronMexican

Why did Wolf start over Bills? Makes no sense.

Purple & Gold
04-08-2009, 02:28 PM
I don't know probably cause he has more experience, but Wolf looked pretty good. I've been happy with the bullpen so far too. Kuo looks like he's gonna have a monster year. Broxton throwing heat and that youngster they have looks like he's gonna be good.

Everytime I see Manny play I laugh at his Boston teammates and FO for wanting to get rid of him :lol :lol

Manny clutch, again. 12:30 start today.

IronMexican

Pathetic bullpen. This team is going nowhere without a trade.

Purple & Gold
04-10-2009, 11:51 AM
I went to that game so I saw that bullshit collapse first hand. Wade got lit up so I wouldn't blame it all on the bullpen just him. But what I'm fucking pissed about is why the fuck is Loney and Kemp batting 6th and 7th?? What the fuck is up with that shit!! You got Russell batting 5th WTF?? I like Russell but it's not because of his bat. It's good for a catcher but no fucking way should he be hitting in front of Loney and Kemp. I know it's early and Torre is probably just messing with the lineup but in this lineup Martin needs to be hitting 7th or 8th. As soon as they walked Ethier I told my friend he's gonna hit in a double play and what the fuck does he do hit in a fucking double play. Fucking ridiculous that he gets more at bats then Loney and Kemp. :bang :bang :bang

IronMexican
04-10-2009, 12:08 PM
I'd go:

1.Furcal
2. Kemp
3. Ethier(Remember he hit like 400 ahead of Manny last season)
4. Ramirez.
5. Loney
6. Martin
7. Blake
8. Hudson
9. Pitcher

Purple & Gold
04-10-2009, 12:18 PM
I'd go:

1.Furcal
2. Kemp
3. Ethier(Remember he hit like 400 ahead of Manny last season)
4. Ramirez.
5. Loney
6. Martin
7. Blake
8. Hudson
9. Pitcher

I'm happy with that lineup although Hudson has looked good at the #2 spot. Ethier at the 3 and Manny at cleanup should happen as well. I'd leave Hudson at the 2 for now and put Kemp at 6th in front of Russell. Him and Blake can fight it out for 7th and 8th

IronMexican
04-10-2009, 12:25 PM
I'd also like Dewitt to start over Blake. Apart from that HR, he's done nothing.

Purple & Gold
04-14-2009, 12:30 PM
Allrite Dodgers coming back strong. I missed the game but damn a cycle by Hudson, way to come in and start producing from the start :clap :clap :clap

I also agree IM I don't know if I'd just throw Blake to the bench, but a nice platoon job between Blake and Dewitt would be nice. All we need is for the pitching to be strong cause with this lineup we should score our share of runs.

IronMexican
04-14-2009, 01:52 PM
Nice game yesterday by the boys in blue. I missed the passed two games also. Keep it up tonight! I still feel SF is the Dodgers biggest threat in the West.

MLB to Dodgers: Manny’s visit a no-no

Buzz up!855 votes PrintLOS ANGELES (AP)—There will be no more visits by Manny Ramirez(notes) to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ clubhouse during media access periods for the remainder of his 50-game suspension.

Dodgers spokesman Josh Rawitch said Wednesday the club received a “friendly reminder” on Wednesday from Pat Courtney, the No. 2 spokesman in the commissioner’s office, that Ramirez wasn’t allowed in the clubhouse when it is open to reporters.

Ramirez’s suspension for violating baseball’s drug rules runs through July 2.

Ramirez told reporters Tuesday: “I didn’t kill nobody, I didn’t rape nobody, so that’s it. I’m just going to come and play the game.”

“It was not a formal warning. They called to remind us,” Rawitch said. “The letter of the law says Manny is not allowed in the clubhouse while the media is present, and it is our intention to adhere to the policy. We certainly don’t expect it to happen again.”

As much as i hate the sox they are the best team in baseball. Dodgers play in a horrid division, their lack of pitching will probably get exposed in the playoffs, but they are a pretty good team. I don't understand why you hate the dodgers so much, you a giants fan or something?

Fuck the Dodgers! Go Giants!!! But I have to admit the Dodgers are much better right now, depending on if the Giants can get a bat before the deadline. I'll always take pitching over hitting in the playoffs, and San Fran is better defensively. LA has the best manager in baseball though. Serious Edge to LA overall. And 7 games isn't insurmountable, especially since it's before the break!!

They'll be alright...if they didnt hit that big time rough patch (aka the American League) no team would be close to them right now.

Once Ibanez gets back, and now J-Roll and Lidge are getting it together...they should definitely win the division.

First, it's Rowand, not Rowland. So I looked up the team stats and you're right. Dodgers Fielding pct is .988, Giants is .985. It's close. Total errors for Dodgers is 38, Giants is 45. Again close, both teams in top half of NL easily. As to your point on the Giants making the playoffs, they are positioned well because they're leading the wild card with a two game lead over the Rocks. Big ups to Sanchez for throwing the no-no tonight, and Rowand made another spectacular catch against the wall to preserve the no-hitter in the 9th. The NL west is finally a good division again, and it'll be a tough road for La/SF/Col down the stretch.

turiaf for president
07-12-2009, 04:54 AM
those are pretty close numbers defensively. i still think SF needs a big bat in order to have success down the stretch. i think its going to end like this

NL W - dodgers
NL C - Brewers
NL E - phillies
wild - cardinals

I agree w/ Dodger, Phillies picks, but I think the Cards win their division. As for the wild card, it's very early but I still believe it'll be the Giants or the Rocks. After them I would go with the Marlins. The NL central teams beat each other up too much for them to make a wild-card run.All of this speaks to how good the Dodgers really are by leading the best division in the NL(It pains me to say that).
I absolutely agree the Giants need a big bat, but Sanchez throwing the no-hitter puts a wrench in that because he had been the main bait in trade talk recently. Throw in Cain/Big Unit being hurt and I've got to think Sanchez is off the table. For once the Giants are loaded in the minors(even with position players) so they have options. Several of those guys are off the table, like Buster Posey and Madison Bumgarner, but it leaves plenty of other guys they could dangle.

Is there talk of the Dodgers making any moves? I don't follow them closely but it seems another arm wouldn't hurt. What's the status of LAs farm system? I know it's always one of the best.

IronMexican

Dodgers need a pitcher(Halladay would be a dream) Doubt they do trade for one, though. I think the Dodgers are staying put.

They better trade for at least one decent pitcher, if not their bullpen will be completely shot by the time the playoffs roll around. None of their starters can go past the fifth inning, it's sad. Kershaw has been amazing his last six starts though, it's time to ship him out with some other dudes for Halladay, that would put us way over the top.

whats wut with wade? is he ever going to regain his 2008 form? we need him to step up because bellasario and troncoso are running on fumes.

as far as starting pitching, if kuroda can work out his kinks from his injury, i think the dodgers are gonna stay put.
bills, kershaw, wolf, kuroda, are a solid 1-4 and the 5th guy can be anyone from milton or weaver to hold it down in the regular season. come playoff time, we wont need a 5th starter.

kershaw's value is as high as ever so the dodgers can offer him and a blake dewitt and toronto might be interested

wow - Halladay - Now that really wouldn't be fair. Is there legit talk out there for that deal? Yeesh. Just looked at his contract and he's making 14.25mil this year and around 15.75mil next year. Seems like a bargain to me. My guess would be that whichever team got him would have to be willing to sign him long-term and have the benjis to do it. He does have a no-trade clause but I doubt he'd say no to LA. Here's the contract:Roy Halladay rhp

3 year/$40M (2008-10)

signed extension with Toronto 3/06
08:$10M, 09:$14.25M, 10:$15.75M

Halladay to donate $100,000/year to Jays Care Foundation

4 years/$42M (2004-07)

It seems like everyone thinks the Phillies is Roy's most likely destination, which would kill me. That would guarantee those fucks another WS trip. I hope they sign Pedro and he is amazing for the next month so they don't go after Roy, then Pedro will shit out right after the deadline, that would be classic. If the Dodgers were to step up and get Roy I don't see anyone standing in their way in the NL.

As long as Manny isn't going to get suspended again I'm fine with Pierre getting shipped out. I don't know where the Dodgers would be right now if we didn't have him though, he really saved them when Manny was out.

That douche Steve Phillips said this morning that if the Dodgers decided to include Kershaw in a trade for Halladay a deal would get done immediately, that's pretty damn tempting..

Yeah but come playoff time they'll be in trouble. Clayton Kershaw is their best pitcher and he's 21 with no playoff experience and will have pitched a ton more innings then he's ever pitched before. And Billingsley, my lord, the guy has an amazing arm but a very poor mind. He's a nervous head case and I have no faith in him in big games at all. So for the Dodgers it's do you try and win now with Manny and trade some younger guys for Hallday or do you wait two or three years when your young players are more mature. It's a tough spot, if I'm LA I trade Bills with like Martin and some minor league prospects for Halladay.

LOS ANGELES -- A screaming-mad Prince Fielder was stopped at the door of the Dodgers clubhouse by security officials before a large group of Brewers teammates caught up and prevented the slugger from confronting Dodgers reliever Guillermo Mota following a tense finish to Milwaukee's blowout loss on Tuesday.

Tempers flared after Mota hit Fielder in the leg with a pitch with two outs in the ninth inning of the Dodgers' 17-4 rout. It was apparent retaliation for the two Dodgers hitters -- including Manny Ramirez in the seventh inning -- who were plunked earlier in the game.

Mota was immediately ejected by home plate umpire Lance Barksdale. Fielder stood at home plate for a few moments before reluctantly taking his base, but after Dodgers left fielder Juan Pierre made a leaping catch to end the game, Fielder charged down the dugout steps, and he didn't stop there.

He knew the location of the Dodgers clubhouse because it's near a weight room used by visitors, so Fielder hustled past fans and reporters toward the door, yelling obscenities. A number of his teammates caught up with Fielder in time to usher him back to the visitor's side.

"I don't remember that," Fielder said before a Brewers official cut off a brief question-and-answer session.

Fielder and Mota got along fine last season, when Mota pitched for Milwaukee. All Fielder would say about his former teammate on Tuesday was, "He tried to come inside. It just got away from him. It happens."

Brewers manager Ken Macha was much more direct.

"It's a part of the game I don't like," Macha said. "We're just trying to get out of the game. We're kind of getting our butts kicked pretty good, and I thought it was obvious because the guy hits Prince and then walks straight off the mound. Prince was standing at home plate looking at him. [Fielder] was pretty upset after the game.

"We're not trying to hit anybody, OK? We're losing by 13 runs. We're trying to get 24 outs. We're not trying to hit anybody. That kind of mentality, I think should be taken care of. We'll see what happens. As far as I'm concerned, the guy just hit him on purpose and then walked straight off the mound into the dugout."

Macha called for Mota to be disciplined by Major League Baseball.

"This kind of mentality puts everybody in jeopardy," Macha said. "Giving [Mota] a $500 fine and a two-day suspension, that's not enough. This kind of thing should be cleaned up."

According to reporters who watched the bizarre scene unfold, it was Casey McGehee and Bill Hall who restrained Fielder from actually taking his case inside the home clubhouse. McGehee wouldn't comment, and Hall chalked it up to, "That's baseball."

"We're teammates, and we're going to back him with any decision he makes," Hall said. "We were all just being teammates. I don't think anybody has a problem with that."

Inside the Dodgers clubhouse, many players were unaware of the scene that had unfolded outside. Catcher Russell Martin asked reporters, "Security had to hold him back?"

"That's all right," Martin added. "I mean, it's 25 against one."

Dodgers manager Joe Torre wouldn't comment. Neither would center fielder Matt Kemp, who matched career highs with four hits and five RBIs in the Dodgers' best night at home since they scored 17 runs on May 25, 1979, against the Reds.

"Normally you want stuff to be taken care of on the field, but it's just part of the game," Martin said. "Our premier hitter gets hit and he's been hit quite a bit this year and it's just kind of protection. That's all it is, it's part of the game. It's been a part of it since I've first started playing. ...

"I understand [Fielder] is frustrated. I understand that. But I don't think that you should take care of it after the game."

Tuesday's showdown sets up an interesting series finale on Wednesday night. It's the final scheduled game between the Brewers and Dodgers this season.

"We'll deal with it when we cross paths again," Brewers center fielder Mike Cameron said. "Everything is good. We just want to play a good baseball game."

Fielder, who has played every inning of every Brewers game this season, will be back in the lineup for Wednesday's series finale, Macha said.

"He's been in every game. Why wouldn't he play?" Macha said.

I went to game one in the recent LA/SF series. Was a lot of fun to boo Manny. Multiple fights in the stands, there was a lot of intensity both on and off the field(very rare for SF, even when playing the Dodgers). Wanted to say that after leaving view reserve and finding some vacated seats on the field level, I sat with some very cool/knowledgeable Dodger fans who drove up from LA for the series. :lol The Cubs suck dude. If you're fine with us underperforming and choking the division away that's fine but I actually care.

This team isn't built to win a championship anyways. Just enjoy the ride. This team is actually performing much better than I expected.

Yeah, when Randy Wolf is your best pitcher you're probably not going to do a whole lot in the post season. I'm not expecting us to win the NL, TBH I don't care if we get swept in the first round, I just don't want to see us not win the division we had like a 10 game lead in a month ago. And watching this what should be good lineup suck is irritating, Manny goes 0 for 4 with 3 K's every game nowadays.

I hope rockies can take that walk off grandslam win into tonights game and win 2 out of 3
be very intersting race if that happens

also dbacks can help both the rockies and dodgers if dbacks can sweep them

KSeal

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Dodgers got swept, the Rockies don't know how to lose whereas the Dodgers aren't playing their best ball to say the least. Luckily the Dodgers don't have to face their three best pitchers so hopefully Wolf and Kershaw can gets wins.

Manny had two hits and the gaming tying hit with two outs 0-2 in the bottom of the ninth. This had nothing to do with him. Joe Torre brought in a minor league pitcher instead of Sherril or Broxton and it cost us the game.

you rest street before the dodgers not vs the dodgers

i would consider closing with sherill and moving brox back to the setup role. at least until his big toe is 100%

Like I said, you guys will be OK. Add in the easiest of relevant NL west schedules down the stretch and you're pretty much guaranteed the division. You'll need pitching stability and a hot Manny to get deep in the playoffs though.

What do you guys think about the Giants/Rockies race? If the playoffs started today the Dodgers would be playing one of those 2 teams.

Hey turiaf, looks like the Brewers prediction was wrong after-all. I picked the Cards but Holliday is obviously the reason they're in. They might even catch the Dodgers for best record. What are your thought heading down the stretch concerning the playoff picture?

yea i was def wrong on the brewers pick. i knew their pitching was suspect but they bats have gone cold as well. holliday is just straight up racking it. props to him

dodgers just picked up belliard, jim thome, and jon garland. def a major improvement!

dodgers cards phillies with the giants winning th WC i think.

and then it will prolly be cards v dodgers 1st round which is scary as a dodger fan. we always bend over for carpenter and wainwright. i think whoever has home field will win that series

they're (dodgers) getting it done though. IMO it's all Torre. Guy is a helluva manager. With Thome, Belliard, and Garland you definitely got better, especially Garland. He'll bring some stability back to the rotation. I listened all day to people discussing what in the hell to do with Thome since he can't really play the field. Thoughts?? Pinch hit or DH for the WS??

Did you guys see Brad Penny against the Phils today?! WOW. He looked dominant, with great command and a mid 90s fastball in the 7th & 8th innings. If he continues that the Giants have absolutely no holes in their rotation. Once we get F Sanchez healthy they should start hitting a bit more too. Don't get me wrong, the hitting still stinks, but it'll get at least a bit better.

I heard Penny left LA on bad terms, what do you guys know???

D Backs whopping that Dodger ass :lmao

I seriously feel like I'm watching the Clippers play, just as pathetic as pathetic gets. Oh well, since we traded for Garland the D Backs have no pitcher tom. so we should be able to get a split, which is pretty sad in itself.

That's Bills for you. He gave up 0 hits through 4 innings. I step away for the entire 5th inning, come back and it's 4-0. Once he starts doubting himself, might as well pack it in. You could see him when the Dodgers are batting and he's doing bad, he's just sitting by himself thinking non-stop.

That's funny cause I did the same thing, Bills was perfect through 4 then I took my dog out, came back and it's 2-0 and then Bills can't even get the opposing pitcher out and the inning continues and it ends up 4-0. He's seriously our number five starter at this point, just a mess.
