So basically I think the reason pop went with the all offense strategy was because TD's knees were hurt and he cant rotate fast enough. Basically for all Bowen's defense, all he does and is expected to do, is funnel the guards to the baseline, where Ducan will rotate and trap. Now with Duncans knees, he is unable to do that. So there goes the entire spurs system of defense. Right now, all bowen would do is funnel the defender into the open unprotected basket. Whats that you say? Help defense from teh other big? Bonner = LOL, thomas = too slow, gooden LOL. So with better three point shooters and a fully recovered ginobili in the lineup pop thought he'd out gunn the opponent, and it might have worked.
HOWEVER, now with ginobili out, all we are left with is the three point shooting and no defense, and less offense. :(. So all those calling for bowen, what good is the BEST funneling defender in the game, when he has no one to funnel the driver into? That is why bowen has seen no playing time. Bowen or the spurs system was never about preventing penetration, it was about funneling them into duncan, which is why we see so many easy baskets in the paint.
I think the only strength of this team that is left, is three point shooting. :ihit CMON SPURS MAKE IT RAIN.
