Defense? what a difference Bruce makes when he is in there, he may not have the same ability as years past but he is damn smart out there. btw where is Hill?

With all the injuries it is a mystery why Hill hasn't played.

Wasn't there about 50 get rid of Bowen topics a few weeks back?

Bowen + Gooden +Duncan's health are our only shots at a title.

not forgetting Parker, just saying that he is a dependable factor. His brilliance won't beat the Lakers by himself. Only having Gooden and Bowen playing a full starter and focusing on defense will the spurs have the talent on the floor to beat the Lakers.

and here comes Finley and Bonner, and we go back to a jump shooting porous team.

and yet bowen gets replaced by Udoka with 3 minutes to go in the game. Why?

Gooden's time to cement his place in Spurs lore.

tim duncan and bruce bowen are still the anchors of our defense. they're the only spurs that can change the game on the defensive end. hopefully tim keeps up this level of play.

Udoka can guard bigger and slower players well for his size. He's not a perimeter defender, and neither is Finley (inside or outside). Bowen, Hill and Hairston would do the job much better.

Gooden's time to cement his place in Spurs lore.

This is his chance to salvage his reputation and his career, and I think he knows it and is totally focused on helping the Spurs win.

Gooden has been playing HUGE for us last few games.

and yes we need more bowen/thomas and less bonner for defense.

RIP Hill.

Ime looked like Chuck Hayes tonight. Useless offensively, but played okay defense and grabbed a ton of boards.

I'm not sold on Hill as a PG (I'd rather develop him into a SG which he seems to have more instincs towards), but I would still want him on the court come playoff time. His defense, rebounding, and ability to take guys off the dribble could be more of an X-Factor than even Pop anticipates. I'd even put him out there with Tony in the backcourt. Hopefully Pop hasn't frozen him out for the rest of the season. ALL HANDS ON DECK!!

Maybe Pop is saving Hill for Brandon Roy tomorrow? If TD does not play, we might see Gooden start.

Only thing is time has been reducing his PT for some games now which might not a affect a veteran like Bowen but might damage the confidence of a rookie....especially going into the playoffs. I hope we do see him against and even more athletic and more poised Trailblazer team tomorrow night. Pop needs to now empty all of his bullets to see what he can do rotation-wise for the playoffs and also see who can contribute what in different situations.
