So I went to Chesters a while back (A year or two ago) and their burgers taste like Whataburger.

A couple of weeks ago I went to Culvers and they taste like a poor mans DQ Hunger Buster.

Then just this past weekend I went to Carl Jr's and their burger tastes like a Whopper.

What The Fuck?

I went to Freddy's also a couple of weeks ago and their burger is pretty good, I also really like those thin fries.

Damn, I've never had a Chester's burger that tasted like a Whataburger. As for Carl's Jr, the burger isn't that great. It's all the extra crap you can get on it that distinguishes it from Jack in the Crack, Whataburger, Wendys, etc.

I prefer to taste the most basic burger they have just to see if they can make a good burger before I start throwing avocado and onions and shit all over it.

And yes Chesters tastes a lot like Whataburger to me.

How can you even compare Chester's to Whataburger?

I have NEVER ever had a bad burger from Chester's, Whataburger on the other had is a different story.

+1 I've never had a Chester's burger taste like Whattaburger. Maybe you've had so many whattaburgers that your taste buds have been whattatized.

Chesters use to be awesome, but I agree with some other people in here it taste a lot like whataburger now. I went about 2 years ago thought it was not nearly as good as it use to be. I forgot it was not as good went back a few months ago and was very dissappointed again.

I don't think Chester's tastes very much like Whataburger, but it's definitely not as good as when they had the poppyseed bun.

It's bread and ground meat, so there's not a lot of ways to make it taste different. For me, a good bun makes an excellent burger. There are a couple places here in San Marcos that make their own buns (River Pub, Centerpoint Station).

I worked at a place many moons ago where we grilled the buns with mayo. Turned them just a little crispy on the edges and warm and greasy in the middle. Good stuff. Also simply salting the meat is important. Sounds obvious, but a lot of places forget to throw salt on their burgers while they're cooking. Good pickles are a plus for me.

Yellow lettuce and soft tomatoes are burger breakers for me. If that's not fresh, then the meat isn't either. :nope :lol

casino is awesome. grilling them cut in half facedown to finish is a badass touch. personally, i don't go out for burgers much anymore. i generally make my own at home with a mix of venison pan sausage and ground venison, with sauteed red onions/garlic mixed in the patties. olive oil, an egg, and some panko to bind.

Chesters was better with the poppy seed bun, but they ARE a step above Whataburger. Ever since I gave up french fries for lent, I don't even want a burger anymore, it's hell.

But anyway, I like to make my own burgers as well. I usually get ground sirloin and marinate the patties in a blend of worschire, soy sauce, olive oil, garlic, onion powder, salt & pepper and a little bit of red pepper flakes. They are delicious, but even better with pickles, YUM!

Mooyah is way overpriced...at least the ones in Dallas are. I keep hearing alot about Chester's, I'm gonna try it out next time I head down to SA.

Bubba's Burger Shack in Houston is pretty bad ass - it's literally underneath Westpark, and their buffalo burgers are super tasty.

And, for those who have never seen it ... http://www.texasburgerguy.com/

I actually haven't been to Chesters in over a year but the last time I went it tasted nothing like whattaburger. I used to like the burgers at that place that used to be off of 1604 with the big plane sticking out of it.

I can never remember what the name of that place was.

I used to like their $4.99 burger/fry/drink deal better than the actual burger.

Centerpoint Station probably makes the best burgers in the area.

How sad is it that a gas station makes better burgers than places like Culvers and Freddys?
