It's like watching Phoenix with porter. No defense and no offense. But kudos for making the playoffs...

Mavs would have won that one game in Denver if not for that completely bullshit call on Chauncey at the buzzer.

Denver would win in 6 games though.

We need to hope the Hornets/Jazz lose the road games they're supposed to lose.

And we win the home games we're supposed to win.

Or else we're 8 seed regardless and experience a quick painless death. At least it's painless :lol. Actually it would hurt :(

Mavs need to nut up and win one against the Hornets. They don't match up well with that team though.

No. Chris Paul just abuses us. That's another team the Mavs have no chance against.

Ya'll are thinking of the Hornets of last year. CP3 abuses Nash too but the Suns won tonight. He had 43 points v the Warriors and they lost to a 7 man Warriors team last Friday. That teams been trash for 7 weeks and if not for some luck ass Butler shots would be 8th. It'll be interesting to see if Chandler is back though.

I think we'll split ;)

The key to beating NOLA is to go under the p'n'r and force Paul to carry that team offensively - take away his ability to dish and make him score 50. I don't think he can do it on a consistent basis.

Utah matches up better with LA than Dallas, so I'm glad to see Utah vs. LA in the first round. That's a possible 8 seed over a 1 seed there.

it seems the only west team that can win on the road is denver and thats a stretch.

I agree, I saw the PHX game tonight and this was pretty much what they did. 29 points on 29 shots for CP3. He did have 16 assists though.

That team just isn't that good. They made Phoenix look like an okay defensive team tonight. I think last year was an aberration with no injuries + Chandler/West/Peja playing at extremely high levels along with capitalizing on a Mavs team in disarray in the 1st round.

Really it's just Paul, a decent PF (West), a mediocre center (Chandler), and then a smorgasbord of aging jump shooters (Posey, Butler, Peja, Mo Pete, Devin Brown, etc). Dunno why people thought this team was gonna make noise this year. Their margin of victory is 1.9 this year compared to 5.3 last year, a VERY steep drop. Mavs are only 1.9 themselves though.

Yup. Usually when teams play twice within a week, for whatever reason, they split the games often.

Let's sweep that fucking ass baby. Hopefully Chandler isn't back, even though I think he's a fucking scrub. (he is).

If your the Mavericks you have a player in Dirk Nowitski, your not scared of the Hornets.

My mama used to tell me when i was younger "son its time to sweep the bugs out of the kitchen" thats what Dallas needs to do this week

They just took off his cast earlier in the week. He's doing some jogging, but Scott says he doesn't look good while running. He's not going to be healthy. Posey is playing Friday, but he has to wear a sleeve over his elbow the rest of the season. It won't fully heal by playoff time.

The refs call more fouls on them....and opponents get about 10 more FT shots a game when Utah is on the road........

It makes a big difference.

mavs need to win both against NO, a split is no good and we will need to really on Utah to drop a few more games....Beat NO twice and your the 6th seed

They might meet in the first round. But them getting over the Lakers, please!!!!!!
That ain't going to happen. They can't win in LA and all the Lakers have to do is win one in Utah.

UTAH SUCKS!!!!!!!

This article explains why the Jazz are so good at home and so weak on the road.....

Does the Whistle Help Utah at Home?
Posted Apr 07, 2009 8:45AM By Tom Ziller (RSS feed)

Denver's George Karl had an interesting claim in a Chris Tomasson Pro Basketball News piece on his theory as to why the Jazz dominate in Utah and stink the road: home cooking. The idea would be that the raucous Energy Solutions Arena mixed with Jerry Sloan's intimidating bark might serve to push refs toward calling a Utah-style game in S.L.C., while different circumstances lend to different results elsewhere.

Does the whistle explain Utah's home court advantage?

In a word, yes ... but not necessarily in the way you think. Utah doesn't really get more whistles at home -- the Jazz earn 0.35 FTAs per FGA at home, and 0.34 FTAs per FGA on the road. That's a minor discrepancy. The key is the Jazz are called for less fouls at home than on the road.

In Salt Lake, opponents draw 0.29 FTAs per FGA. In their own homes against the Jazz, these teams draw 0.38 FTAs per FGA. In a standard game, that's the difference between 23 FTAs in S.L.C. and 30 FTAs away from Utah. That's huge!

The home court benefit as it pertains to the whistle for the Jazz is that the refs apparently let contact go on the defensive end. In another arenas, the refs aren't looking the other way. Is this something the Jazz can fix, perhaps by being a bit more prudent with their fouls on the road? Or will that just turn into restrained aggression that results in easier shots for the opponents? We'll never find out, because Sloan isn't telling any sentient being to be softer, that's for sure.

And that's news how? Everyone and their dog knows the refs let more go in Utah. What I want to know is why my team plays with energy flowing at home yet becomes lazier than a 400 pound fat man sitting in front of a computer screen on the road? When you find an article about that lmk.

Let me put it this way. Everyone expects the home team to get more free throws so pulling out a story that shows the home team getting 7 more free throws a game isn't going to prove to me that THAT'S the reason why we suck on the road. Why do we shoot a lesser FG percentage on the road? Why do we commit more turnovers on the road? Why don't we rotate worth shit on defense? It's not a "7 more free throws a game" difference. It's much deeper than that. We have the mental toughness of a 3 year old on the road.

It would be interesting to compare Utah's homecourt advantage to other teams, I think it is more prevelant because other teams do not play as physical a style as the Jazz do.

I think their road woes are because they get called for fouls and then to stay on the court they play less aggressive and it hurts them overall.

To me it is all a matter of style.....

Jazz phyiscal style is only played at home bc the refs allow them to play like that....on the road the Jazz dont get away with the pushing holding, etc...also Jazz run alot more at home and on the road they dont seem to get as many easy baskets

When we play with the same energy on the road that we do at home (and yes I know it's few and far between) we get what happened in New Orleans. We played close to that way in Miami, Phoenix, and the 2 OT game in Houston. That came down to making plays at the end and we couldn't do it. This other shit you see at Orlando, SA, LA, Portland, Dallas, Denver, and so on is just lazy, uninspired basketball. The foul difference is like maybe the 5th or 6th reason why we struggle so much on the road.

This is simple mindedness from most fans. It's not about fouls on the road. Please look deeper than that. Most fans will just spew shit about foul difference because they won't look any deeper. Like I said earlier, the foul thing is at best the 5th worst problem for us right now on the road.

Even bad teams play better at home than on the road.

But Utah clearly doesn't have the backbone and confidence to be a championship team.

What Girasuck is saying is that his team isn't as good as what pundits say they are. They point to the foul shots but the problem is much deeper.

15-24 is sad. Same road record has NJ (who isn't making the playoffs) and Miami.

If you can't go at least .500 on the road, you aren't a true contender.
