Kidd looks like something from the lord of the rings. Very odd looking fellow. Oh and can't shoot for shit. The fact that he was allowed by the NBA to pass The Magician on the all time assist list is a travesty. This is bad for the game of basketball.

Chef Boyardee is world renown, you're irrelevant. And yes Jason Kidd should have been suspended by David Stern for even attempting to pass The Great One in anything.

Or getting a disease from unprotected sex and letting your fans and team down...

We better fucking win this game tonight. Fucking telling you guys the Hornets have been the 15th best team in basketball the last 7 weeks.

Well you know what? When the 15th best team in the NBA comes into your house on a Friday night, and you have all your horses healthy, and apparently the scrub players are confident, well you better win the fucking game, especially when their scrub center is out.

Hornets have been struggling lately with the injuries still, even losing to the Suns the other night. And the Mavs have been doing pretty good lately...so with that being said...Mavs win tonight in Dallas, then lose in New Orleans.

Dallas shooting a red hot 63%. Need to defend better and run after stops. Also, need to take better shots to avoid their fast breaks.

That's just not true. Our coaches don't know how to run any offense. The only plays we run is the pick n roll with CP3 or iso to West and that's it. We don't run plays for anyone else. Scott isn't the best X's and O's coach. He doesn't even coach the team. CP3 runs this team. Peja was a monster those 5 games West was out. He averaged 23 pts a game on 54% shooting. Whenever West is around, Peja is asked to sit in the corner while West and CP3 run the offense. Its easy to neutralize West with PFs like Odom, Scola, etc.

Well that's the point isn't it. We have gaping holes at 2 guard and a center who can score as is, if Kidd walks we're left with a 5'10 point guard and another roster hole, even though JET can play some point. resigning Kidd is critical if this team wants to do anything next season (don't think there's much a chance regardless, just hoping for miracle trades with the expirings).

He's shooting 42% from the field. Is it because he doesn't finish well in the paint?

He doesn't shoot many 2 pointers or anything in the immediate basket area but when he does get layups he's a pretty bad finisher, actually one of the worst in the league statistically.

Cmon don't you watch the Mavs :p:

I don't know why he doesn't post up the opposing guard more- he's got size on most of them. When Kidd is aggressively posting up, kicking it out to the shooters (like the recent Suns game) the team doesn't have as many offensive droughts.

The hornets indeed were a 1 year wonder

2004 Wolves
2005 Sonics
2006 Clippers
2007 Warriors (eh not really, just venting)
2008 Hornets

I was pretty vocal on other boards about how I felt the Hornets were a 1 year wonder. No way were they as good as they looked last year. They capitalized on a declining discombobulated Dallas team in the 1st round then came back down to Earth in the final 5 games v the Spurs when their jump shooting died. I kept thinking it was a team that just hit a few shots, and it was.

Every year has its 1 year wonder. Last year they were projected as a 40 win team 8/9 seed, yet they won 56, hence people being tricked in the off season into thinking its achampionship contender.

More or less they're a 45-47 win team this year that's had extremely good luck in close games. They may get to 50 due to the luck.

You just have to sit down and look at the names on the roster. Peja? Chandler? Butler? Posey? Armstrong? West? Yeah.... this is not a championship team, nor a contending team. This is a 45 win team, and is playing like they SHOULD'VE been expected to.

Back to Josh.

His energy on the court has been great since coming back, and if you recall, was pretty good after the All STar break before he got hurt.

I'm starting to think maybe it isn't a fluke and the old J-Ho has to some extent returned.

Hope he can keep it up. Adds another dimension to our team , we don't win ANY games with Dirk/JET going 13-35 without J-Ho

Spurs shot 39% and only had 91 points in game 7 and still won, because Hornets couldn't manufacture offense when their jumpers were not falling.

That's what happens when you have only one ballhandler, 2 players who can create their own shot, and a bunch of aging jump shooters who don't attack the basket.

For some reason, B Scott's pussy hurts over something...

http://mavsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2009/04/byron-scott-is-all-hot-and-bothered-abou.html

Byron Scott is all hot and bothered about something

Not sure what exactly the Mavs did to get under New Orleans coach Byron Scott's skin, but he was pretty perturbed about tonight's game.

"I think the way they kind of acted when they were playing tonight, I think that we should have a little more fire in our belly for Sunday's game, you know with all the antics they were doing," Scott said. "Rubbing it in, showing off, I don't know what you want to call it. But all those antics, I am old school and it didn't sit well with me, and I hope it didn't sit well with our guys."

Perhaps Scott was miffed at Antoine Wright, who had to be separated from Hornets swingman James Posey in the first quarter.

I would wonder if this is a continuation of Scott's beef with Jerry Stackhouse, but I doubt that Stack did too much trash talking while wearing a suit on the bench.

Whatever it was, the fact that the Mavs are carrying themselves with some swagger ought to sit well with MFFLs

Ghazi
04-11-2009, 12:35 AM
Yeah I read that and did not understand it. I saw our bench was enthusiastic, but so? Isn't that what a bench was supposed to do?

Cp3 was the one who last year arrogantly said "he cant guard me" (he's right :lol), flops all over the court, whines... And West is the average PF who touched the cheek of a hall of famer. Not sure what's causing his pussy to hurt.

All season long the Mavs have been a two steps forward, one step back kind of team. They've had impressive wins throughout the season, but they have always immediately handed back any progress they make by quite a few 30-point beatdowns on the road, from the elite (Bos, Cle) to bottom-feeders (Mem, OKC, the New Jersey Devinaires).

They've been on a roll lately and a lot of it has to do with Josh playing like it's still 2006. We'll see if anything is different Sunday in NOLA. They can't have the mindset of "We needed a split and already have one." They have to go for the sweep.

Our guys haven't penciled in anything! They will be ready to play on Sunday, it's just gonna come down to execution and making shots. I noticed in the 2nd quarter the pace of the game slowed down and the offense stagnated a little. It's more difficult on the road to get transition offense going which is why we morph into a 3-PT shooting team that cannot shoot hence our 18-22 road record.

I mean cmon, our guys know what's on the line here, they are gonna be ready, even if they do not win. Let's not act like we have a weak minded, lazy team, weak minded teams do not win titles.

Were those really quit jobs?

It's well known the Mavs have shit perimeter defense, Carter/Harris torched us, Redd/Sessions torched us, and both teams were hot from behind arc (as we have trouble defending 3). Mavs shot poorly both games too. OKC was a little bizarre as they were without Durant, but Mavs DID fight back in the 4th and ended up having a FG drought at the end costing them.

Sometimes bad execution can be mixed up w/ bad effort. When you miss your shots, and have a bad perimeter defense against strong backcourts, and the other team has a hot shooting night, and you're not that good of a team to begin with, you may get blown out. It doesn't mean the guys didn't show up mentally, it just means we missed our shots and didn't defend well. The Nets arent 24 PTS better, Bucks aren't 34 PTS better, but I don't think the results of those games means we quit. It's just bad perimeter defense + bad shooting + hot shooting for opponent.

That's just how I look at it. :lol

I don't think anyone believes in the beloved Mavs. After all, we're just a 50 win team. 50 win teams do not get hot in the post season and fluke their way into a championship, and usually even the WCF for that matter. This isn't football where a 10-6 or 11-5 team may win a title here and there, or a 9-7 team like the Cards can fluke it's way into a Super bowl.

True. Mavs also got outscored by 48 in a 32 minute span against the Bucks. It's actually stunning to think that that actually happened, after all we're not an atrocious team. I bet the Kings ALL year have not had a 32 minute stretch where they were outscored by nearly 50 points.

BUT the Mavs have been much better the last 2 months than the Hornets. Much better. Hornets should be 46-33 right now.
