The premise of the poll aside, I don't think that even that accomplishment would substantially increase an argument for Paulus, who has proven to be a pretty middling basketball player on some relatively disappointing Duke teams.

There are a number of multi-sport athletes (in college) who -- to me, at least -- would have better credentials to be in this argument than even Paulus under your scenario:

Oh, I agree with you on the names and actual feats of every athlete on that list. And I further agree that Duke was mediocre by Duke standards during his career and Paulus doesn't even stand out amongst those squads. But is there any precedent for this? I've been following collegiate athletics for a long time and I'm drawing a blank.

I'd doubt there is -- to the extent that a player may have been on conference title teams in two different sports for two different schools, it would seem to happen after a transfer with a guy who started out as a two-sport athlete, chose one, hated it, and moved on to play another, but happened to be on a conference title team in the first sport. I can't think of anyone who would fit that bill, necessarily.

By the way, Donovan McNabb probably warrants mention on the earlier list.
