David Lee, who will be a restricted free agent this summer, could reportedly ask for $10 million annually. The Knicks will be in a tough spot, having to decide what to do with both Lee and Nate Robinson, who will also be a restricted free agent.
"A player can be a good player at one number and not a good player at another number," team president Donnie Walsh said.
Roderick Boone wrote in a piece for Newsday that "there's whispers that Lee might try to command $10 million."
RealGM Note: Lee is currently ranked (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerrankings.php) 11th in season FIC and has a Reina Value of +911%, which means he 'deserves' a salary of approximately $18M.

Give me a break. RealGM is going crazy.

Don't know about 18 mil, but he's going to get paid this year. His offense has improved (especially with that jumper he never seemed to have confidence until D'Antoni came along added to his offensive skillset). He's also been a double-double machine this season. Mike D. has opening Lee's game up might very well have been a double-edged sword: they played better than they did last season with a might contribution from himself (as well as Nate and Chandler), but now he has more bargaining leverage whereas last season he was still raw.

David Lee is a good player but is not worth that much. His offensive numbers have gone way up in that run and gun sytem of the Knicks. Put him on any other team and his numbers go back down to where they were.

He'll probably get, or close to it anyway.

MLE money at best. Remember they are about to address players salaries in league negotiations.

Too many good players coming out next year. Economy is causing franchises to lose money. In the end, teams will shoot their wad on the really good players leaving barely any money left over to sign a guy like David Lee.
