First episode is out. Watching it right now. Few interesting points.
-Roach said he noticed IV marks on DLH's arms and told Manny to jump him right away cuz he just got rehydrated right before the fight. wow.
-Roach has an assistant trainer helping him out, Michael Moorer. Will this change things?

I was really surprised about the IV comment also. It makes sense though, DLH just looked lifeless in that fight.
I think Moorer will help more than hurt. He was a real cerebral fighter when he was heavyweight champ. Had it not been for a lucky punch by George Foreman, his legacy would be alot more positive...

This is a hard fight for me to pick sides. I love both fighters. I almost feel like a Hatton win would redeem him for the Mayweather fight. I still feel that if the ref would have let Hatton fight Mayweather on the inside Hatton would have had a chance to win the fight.
No doubt that it will boil down to how the ref handles this bout. If Hatton comes in close to work Manny and the ref lets him work Pac is going to have his work cut out for him. If Hatton comes in close and the ref spends the entire evening seperating the two Pac wins no problem. I hope the ref lets Hatton work the inside, if he does, we'll really see what Pac is made of.
If Manny wins Mayweather has to fight him...he just has to.

I think it will be a much closer fight than alot of people are expecting. Eventhough Manny's speed is superior, I think Hatton's natural strength and crowding style will give him problems. Ricky loves to bulldog fighters into the ropes and work the body relentlessly, which is a style I don't recall seeing Manny have to deal with before. JMM, Oscar, Barrera and Morales were all counter punchers by the time Manny faced them. That said, I still think Manny's speed, conditioning and great chin will prevail...probably a TKO around the 10th or 11th after Hatton has lost some steam on his attack and Manny's combinations have taken over.

This worked against Mayweather and it worked well only problem was the refs wouldn't allow it. If the refs let Hatton work inside its anybodies fight if the ref jumps in at any sign of a clinch Pac's gonna take this no problem.

JMM is a good boxer, i wouldnt be suprise if he wins but Mayweather has the size and speed to beat him, Mayweather should fight Cotto, Mosley or Margarito those are the top fighers in his division instead he is fighting smaller guys like Hatton, JMM and possibly PacMan
Pacman all the way but im just a little disappointed with his current lifestyle with all his gambling, showbiz and even posse distractions. I hope he was focused during his training because Hatton is a slugger, he will pound you and force you to the corner and he is really good in getting to those crevices..good thing Manny can take blows and has very good balance.

Don't be surprised if Hatton wins. He has quick feet and under Mayweather Sr has shown increased mobility, head movement, and over defensive skills. Add to that he's the bigger guy and he could beat Pac.
The win over DLH wasn't as impressive to me because of what Oscar had to do to get down to that weight. He looked like a skeleton.
Plus, Hatton should have the motivation factor. He's trying to redeem himself after the loss to Mayweather while Pac has been living fat on all the praise and greatness talk after the DLH fight. He could be ripe for the taking.

"Pacquiao most recently fought at 135 and will have to jump 2 weight classes to get to 147. Even though he gets the 8 oz gloves instead of the 10 oz that Oscar wanted, I just don't see Pacquiao winning this one. A lot can happen between now and December and this one will be tough to call, but as of right now that's a hell of a lot of weight to jump and still take power for a dude as small framed as Pacquiao.
@ Oscar for talking big now that he's fighting the smaller guy after backing off his statements to take on the winner of Cotto - Margarito. Margarito scared the shit out of him with that performance."
Im surprised it didnt impress you when you think Pacman couldnt do it.

the next fight would be Manny vs. Mayweather. But the way Manny is fighting I would not be surprised to see Mayweather dodge the fight as much as possible. I would not blame him too much because at this point pacman is a machine.
hopefully this will happen no later than next year and it would be an amazing fight. I agree that Floyd would still be the favorite IF he beats Marquez and shows he is still in condition. Floyd is just as skilled or more, bigger, stronger, just as fast or faster than Manny and has NEVER lost. But pacman is got the heart and genius of Freddy Roach on his side.

There is no way Mayweather Sr. trained him to do that, Hatton must have gotten caught up in the moment and fought like an idiot rabid dog. Manny was cool as ice, it's all business with him. Hatton parts ways with Mayweather Sr.
By Roy Luarca
Philippine Daily Inquirer
First Posted 23:40:00 05/04/2009
HOLLYWOOD—CHANCES ARE FLOYD Mayweather Sr. is out of Team Hatton, for good.
Reports from England yesterday revealed that Mayweather’s contract was only for 12 weeks up to Hatton’s showdown with Manny Pacquiao which ended in a disastrous second-round knockout loss on Saturday (Sunday in Manila).
Mayweather was earlier quoted as saying that Hatton did not heed his instruction to keep up his defense and avoid toe-to-toe exchanges with Pacquiao.
Hatton was also under orders to stay close to Pacquiao to neutralize the Filipino’s speed and give him a chance to unleash his vaunted body blows.
But after Hatton was knocked down twice in the first round, Mayweather said the Briton returned to his old brawling style.
Having perfected the moves to foil Hatton’s attack, Pacquiao found the Hitman an easy target instead.
There were also reports of strife in the Hatton camp less than a week before the fight dubbed “The Battle of East and West.”
Hatton reportedly resented Mayweather’s tardiness during training sessions.
Reports also quoted Mayweather as saying that he’d like to see Hatton give up fighting after absorbing his second knockout loss in 47 fights.
Other reports, however, said Hatton, who apologized to his fans for the crushing defeat, may yet fight again.

He had beaten much bigger, stronger and in some cases more skilled fighters than Manny in his career. The man had 2 battles with Sugar Shane, and a prime Shane at that.. He was coming off a competitive loss to Floyd. The bottom line is draining himself, at age 35 to make that weight killed him in that fight. I said in the thread, before the fight started, after having picked Oscar to win, that hearing he was unable to put any weight back on after the weigh in had me wavering big time. Oscar screwed up taking that fight, at that weight..

Oscar is hands down the most overrated fighter ever in boxing. He beat Mosley and off the top of my head I think there was one more decent fighter he beat. Thats about it. He's a perennial loser in big fights.

Okay 3. Mosley, Whitaker and Quartey.
He beat Vargas (former champion) when he was juiced up on steroids and JC Chavez twice (although he was 36 at the time of the 2nd fight). He also beat Jesse James Leija (30-1-2 ATOF), Arturo Gatti (33-1-0 ATOF), Miguel Angel Gonzales (41-0-0 ATOF), Genaro Hernandez (32-0-1 ATOF)...these were all world champions before Oscar knocked them out. He was also robbed in the Trinidad fight although alot of that was his own doing...

The Tito Fight, was the biggest mistake Oscar ever made. He was dessimating Trinidad. Through 8 rds, i recall having it 7-1 for Oscar. Everytime he let his hands go, he was dominating. Running those last rds on the advice of his stupid corner, was such a bad idea..

The last thing I need is some passive aggressive fuck like you telling me what's ok and what's not. I decide that for myself, you fuck off.

Don't even count the JCC fights. He was clearly passed his prime. I was disappointed Oscar fought him a second time.

Oscar destroys any version of JCC. He was about to lose to Meldrick Taylor, before Richard Steele, took Don King's money and stopped the fight off a knockdown with 2 seconds on the clock in the 12th.. Prime Oscar just way too skilled for Chavez..

Vargas juiced or not was highly highly overrated himself. Chavez fights were worthless. JJL was on the decline. Gatti...ok I'll give you Gatti I guess.
I don't consider Gonzales or Hernandez big victories.
He fucked himself in the Tito fight. Great fighters don't lay back.

Lennox Lewis did it 100 times over..I never followed Lewis so I can't say. I'm sure the premise of dragging on a heavyweight fight makes much more sense over trying to pull that off in the lower weights.

say what???
It was obvious DeLaChocha has been fighting exhibition fights for the last few years. Dude is finished as a competitor. and was a while ago.
Floyd could have easily destroyed him. But Floyd is not as aggressive as Manny. How in the world DeLaChocha has been relevant in the last 5 years is a mystery to me.

JC Chaves was 97-1-1 and had won 7 straight going into the first Delahoya fight. He wasn't at his prime but I would not call it a worthless victory. JJL was only 29 when he fight Oscar as well.
Hernandez was a great champion in his day, he finished 38-2-1 and his only losses were to Oscar and Mayweather Jr, so I wouldn't call him a spare by any means.

Did what 100 times over? Lewis knocked out more than his fair share of opponents. I don't recall him doing alot of "laying back" when he was ahead in a fight.

Now this I will agree with. Oscar hasn't been a serious fighter since he lost to Hopkins in 2004. He had been living on name alone and that tailor made KO over Mayorga for the past 5 years.

I simply can't speak for Hernandez as I know very very little about his career.

JJL was not a megafight but it's not like he was a tomato can either...As I said before, Chavez was not in his prime but still a very good fighter and a world champion. Oscar's win over him (convincingly at that) deserves some respect...

Motherfucker was a flat out embrassment when he fought Holyfield. The 1st time as bad as that decision draw, was he had Evander standing in front of him 6th rd on, and what did Lewis do? Jab, Jab, Jab Lazy right hand, clinch hold on. Wash, rinse and repeat. The 2nd fight was maybe the most boring piece of shit i have ever seen. Same thing as the first one only with even less action, and Evander actually got off in that fight. Holyfield was easily 3 or 4 years past his best and Lewis didn't come close to getting rid of him. Oscar played it safe once, against Trinidad but he always brought it, before and after that fight..

I'll give you the Holyfield fights but the guy knocked out or stopped...
Vitali Klitschko (although it should not have been stopped)
Mike Tyson
Hasim Rahman (avenging his loss)
Michael Grant (when he was considered a contender)
Shannon Briggs (when he was considered a contender)
Andrew Golota
Oliver McCall (avenging his loss)
Tommy Morrison
Frank Bruno
Donovan Ruddock
Granted, not alot of big names on that list but he knocked out the people that were put in front of him the majority of the time. It's just a shame that Riddick Bowe didn't have the balls to fight him, throwing his belt in the garbage instead. A fight against Foreman would have been nice but I really don't think George wanted any part of that.
