Sad day for Phillies fans, and in general for fans of baseball and fans of broadcasting. Harry was a great man and an iconic figure in Philadelphia. Rest in peace.

Surreal to watch the Phillies TV for today's game against the Nats. Harry Kalas was certainly beloved in Philadelphia, but left a generation of fans with a recognizable voice to commemorate so many great moments.

"There it is. Number 500 for Michael Jack Schmidt" immediately comes to mind for me.

Classy guy in a city full of wingbat sports fans and everyone of those wingbats loved that guy to death. To have that kind of love among those kinds of hooligans is probably the best tribute that could ever be paid to a person in his profession.

I never gave a damn about Phillies broadcasts, but you tell me the voice of NFL films has died and I feel a tear build up in my eye. I grew up with that voice, watching all of the NFL films Super Bowl highlights and other specials since I was a young kid. Damn, that sucks.
