JR Smith would have never co-existed with Pop..he would have played this season, but only because Pop has switched his focus to offense..

he wouldn't have fit in with us in years past..horrible defensive player, one of the lowest IQs in the NBA..

No his friend was not wearing a seatbelt.

But J.R. is a really good player, and his defense has been much improved this year. If I am not mistaken he held Kobe to under 20 earlier this year.

While he was not drunk, he was driving recklessly.

"the 23-year-old Smith is facing charges of improper passing, failure to stop at a stop sign, reckless driving, speeding and failure to wear a seat belt in connection with the accident that killed Andre Bell, 21, of East Orange."

Would ya'll rather have Smith instead of Jefferson?

Earl Smith vs Richard Jefferson as of Dec 2009:

PPG : 15.9 - 13.4
FG%: .435 - .464
3P$ : .363 - .353
MPG: 26.7 - 31.8
Salary Rank: 120 - 27

Number of games with 10 3pt shots made: Smith 2, Jefferson 0

Give me JR anyday over RJ, purely for he fact he makes much less money and comes off the bench.

I still think Pop needs to figure out how to bring RJ off the bench and let Manu start, or has he already tried that?

I know $15mil is alot for a bench player, but in the end it is about winning and not pride.

A funny comment from GK about that latest Nuggs game

The fourth quarter got a little weird. With Denver up 19 points and with 2:31 left, Smith launched a 30-foot 3, which missed, as did his next two attempts.

"It's difficult for me (as a coach)," Karl said. "Players want other players to have their opportunity to shine in the spotlight — I'm not sure I like it.

"A couple guys asked me to keep him in to get the record (for 3s, 12). Personally, I think, when the game's over, the game's over. But it's a new generation, I got to adapt."

See, that's the difference between a classy organization with Titles to back up their philosophy and others. I, for one, would care if our guys acted like total dicks, a la Jason Terry, etc...

Other fan bases just can't grasp the fundamental concept of integrity and sportsmanship, win or lose the Spurs are class acts. And, I'm a fan of that.

What about flopping? That ruins the integrity of the game and Manu has taken it to a new level, even some Spurs fans will admit it. Now every team has a flopper or two on the team

Just as bad as making stupid hand gestures etc when hitting a shot.

Flopping isnt classy or good sportsmanship and it certainly lacks alot of integrity because it is basically on the same level as dishonesty :toast

The Spurs average 101.6 PPG which is enough. The problem is our D is giving up 96.9; this is not spurs basketball. Man I miss those days where one could be 95% sure that the spurs would win the 88-84 games

Flopping is a part of the game now. Flop or be flopped, and there is a 3rd party who determines the validity of the flop. Almost every player exaggerates a movement to get the call some better than others like Manu and CP3.

But, that has nothing to do with punching people in the balls and flapping your arms like some crazy chicken along with flying like a paper jet after you make a basket. It's the unprofessional antics and attention seeking from those tard players that has absolutely nothing to do with the game itself that embodies the word unsportsmanlike conduct. The Nuggets will never be a class act with some of the thugs on that team and their leader Karl. Sorry, but it's true.

Not to mention that people would love sjax back, class act he is :lmao

Last I looked Sjax was not on the Spur team anymore and when he was, Pop handled Sjax pretty damn good when he was in SA. Not much was in the paper or anywhere else about his antics because Pop and the organization didn't put up with it.

They get rid of players who act up, bottom line. To say anything else is making up crap. Again, fans from other teams just don't understand the culture that Timmy and Pop have cultivated in SA.

The trade was actually completed at the trade deadline in 2006 for Brent Barry.

The NBA said the paperwork was put in a few minutes too late so they canceled the trade.

Flopping is gamesmanship and is just one of the strategies a player can employ. If it works, his team benefits but it can also backfire and hurt his team. Refs get paid to decide whether its a legitimate move or a flop. Its just part of the game. Some players just have a knack for gamesmanship/flopping.

Because Barry failed his physical.

I thought it was because Hawks GM Billy Knight had his cell phone off (funeral) and couldn't confirm the trade in time before the deadline passed. I don't ever remember the J.R. Smith deal falling through because of a failed physical.

As I recall, the Spurs and Hornets were looking for a third team with enough salary cap room to facilitate the deal and one of the reports said that once they finally got something arranged, it was 5 minutes too late. Pop had already told Barry to stay home from the trip to Memphis and then the Spurs called Brent to let him know the deal didn't happen.

Moneywise I would tend to agree but concerning BB IQ there isn't even a comparison. JR was personally responsible for some of your losses to the Spurs in the '05 playoff series. He IMHO hasn't improved much since then. His game is O and he is very good at times but inconsistent. Tremendous talent but lacking between the ears.

Personally I would lkie to see Mason start in place of RJ and keep Manu in the 2nd unit. With Manu's unselfish attitude he could get RJ going with his passing since that seems to be the problem with RJ. He needs a pass first type of player to set him up either in the open court or slashing to the rim. And Mason is coming on lately and his handle has improved dramatically from last season as well as his ability to attack the rim.

And you're right about winning. That's why the FO went after RJ because they felt that they needed to take advantage of TD's last few years. So screw the $$ and get the right rotation in place to contend for a ring.
