Will get you bounced in the playoffs, even by a 2nd or 3rd tier team.
Unless the defense shows up in game 2, it's going to be

we don't have the players to play great D..and worst of all, Pop has abandoned his defensive principles..

The defense....or lack thereof.
Over 50% shooting from the Mavs = First round sweep.
What did Bowen do to be benched in the second half?

The first part is spot on. My sentiments exactly. The latter I dunno. I think he is just desperate to get something to work for this team.

Spurs D has been bad all year

mason, bonner, finley, all playing underwhelming on the defensive end.
spurs looked a step slow from the second quarter onward.

Where Spurs's opponent shoot at over 50% in playoffs happens
Come on! We have good defensive guys like Bowen and Duncan, and our opponents just scored 93 pts per game this year! Why can a damn team like Mavs score more than 100 in AT&T Center?

I didn't watch the game, but was your defense worse than our defense today (The Pistons)? Was it that bad? Or was it just worse than usual?

there's a reason we ranked 5th in the NBA on defense this year, despite having bad defensive starters outside of Duncan..we do have capable defensive players, but Pop isn't playing them much..Bowen, Hill, Thomas..
currently, we have a great defensive system and philosophy, but the roles are being played by offensive players..it's impossible to play good D when you have Mason, Finley, and Bonner on the floor at the same time..

Pop has this idea that with Manu out, we won't have enough scoring if Bruce is playing and/or Hill. But he's gonna have to have a change of heart quick or we can kiss this series goodbye.

Yes this is exactly what I think as well. Despite playing terrible defensive players, we're still 5th on defense this year. If we play a little more Bowen and Hill, it could basically give us a better chance to win. Heck just play Bowen starter minutes. We already have enough offensive weapons if we put in Parker, Duncan, Finley/Mason, Gooden together with Bowen and Duncan. If not it's not enough, replace with Thomas.

I understand that we're going to lack scoring without Manu, but that's exactly the point..we aren't going to win ANY shootouts against anybody without Manu..this team needs to play slow-paced defensive basketball if we want to succeed in these playoffs..
we've shown flashes of it, despite playing poor defensive players..

Exacly my thoughts, as I said in another thread, if we're gonna do damage this year, it has to be with defense not offense because it's defense that gives us a better chance. We will lose all kinds of shootouts without Manu.

I was at the game. Finley covered Howard all the time that he was out there, how many points did Howard score? Granted, not only was it piss poor defense but the fact that Finley was the help for Bonner on defense that left him so out of position.

Finley did do a better job than I expected staying in front of Howard, he was just lost (like many Spurs were) on those rotations.
