View Full Version : Thoughts on our beloved Mavs tonight

I'm so proud of my boys. This was a consummate TEAM effort. I have no complaints with how anyone played this game for the Mavs. Barea slice/dice, Damp on boards, Dirk/J-Ho/Terry making shots, Bass/Wright with bench contributions. Kidd with a play here and there, maybe some more scoring from him would be nice.. Our guys picked up their defense, hit their shots, and beat a team they were supposed to beat.

And the mental toughness the guys showed!? Early game, down 13, shots not falling. Dirk in foul trouble. 4 point game at halftime.

3rd quarter, Mavs up 9, Spurs eat it up quickly. Spurs start 4th Q with a 3, Mavs did not wither. ALl those bullshit 3's and bullshit Duncan shots the Spurs were making, the Mavs never panicked. I'm so proud of the guys

Can we even say the Spurs had an off game? Parker missed a few gimmes, but they were blazing from behind the arc and Duncan looked very great.

Ive often said, when our bench was criticized, whether it was the undersized nature of Barea/Bass and the rest of the scraps, the beloved Mavs bench is not THAT bad. The problem was the core. But the core is much better when Howard is playing like this.

I have nothing left to say, I am filled with euphoria right now, but there's still plenty of series to be played. I would say at this moment in time though the Mavs have the upper hand.

Discuss amongst yourselves.

Bravo, Mavs. Solid game all around. My opinion of them has really changed in these last few days.

I thought mavs played well tonight even though I hate them with a passion. Of course it is only the first round so they might want to just lose so they don't have to face Lakers in the West or a small chance they make it to the finals creamed by the CAVS

Anyone hear Avery Johnson butcher J.J. Barea's last name on ESPNEWS? He kept on calling him Barera. You would think Avery would know how to pronounce the guy's name considering he coached him.

I am very shocked and surprised by the outcome of game 1. I'm glad that the Mavs got game 1 but it doesn't mean anything really. Mavs can't let up at all in this series. If they want to win it, they have to play the way they did in game 1. I'm also glad that the choking on the road in the playoffs is over now. The Mavs finally broke the streak.

Mavs played solid tonight. They deserved to win. But it's not like the Spurs are in uncharted territory with Game 1 losses.

Every series is going to be nip/tuck except the Lakers/Jazz series.

I hate the boys in blue. I hate your beloved mavs.

If the Mavs play like the did against the Spurs against everyone else, they'd be going for their 8th-peat.

04-19-2009, 12:46 AM
true timvp, why is it that the Mavs play like their lives depend on it against the spurs?

not only tham, but the Hornets play like the dream team vs the spurs, david west becomes Karl malone, what does he average like 30 and 14 vs vs us??

Eh, isn't it like 15-13 over the last 28 or osmethin in favor of the Mavs.

All things considered its basically 50/50.

Bump, you already know the answer to this question. The Mavs play so well because they were built, breed and brainwashed to beat the Spurs and only the Spurs. It seems like they truly believe that if they beat the Spurs that is better than a ring.

They are like a child who has been abused, grown up a sociopath and focuses their ire on the Spurs. But then cries when their pet goldfish dies.

funny post but true.

just absolutely no fear against SA and im sure it is sickening to Spur fans.

i guarantee you if it was any other team in the West that had dominated us like u guys did in the 1st qtr at home, we wouldve just shriveled up and died

DPG21920
04-19-2009, 12:23 PM
There were definitely good things from both teams, and like I said, nothing anyone who knows the Spurs/Mavs saw was "surprising". The Spurs were able to do things that everyone knew they could do against the Mavs and the Mavs showed the match-up problems that everyone knew they would present.

It will be about adjustments and rebounding.

Spurs deserved the loss. So does that mean the Mavs earned the win? Or were they given it?

Whichever, the Mavs got the W.

But good luck getting any more! :)
