The game is already pocketed by the rockets, and I'm glad to see our country's hero playing a perfect game tonight: 9-9 from the field, 6-6 from the line, 9 rebounds and 24 points by the 3rd quarter, making the entire 4th quarter garbage time... but...
It's just the first time in this decade for Blazers to make the playoffs, actually they don't know exactly the differences between the games of regular season and those of post season. But the young teams always grow fast... with one game's experience for the playoffs, maybe they will appear to be a quite different team in game 2, game 3, game 4...
Blazers made a poor strategy on yao. Any team playing the rockets should know it's unfeasible to expect one single player to lock up yao, only by double team can a team limit yao a little bit. Blazers also tried a little bit doubles but they didn't work, the problem is pryzbilla is even slower than yao. Other than Shaq, on other center in today's NBA can match up well against yao, even for Dwright Howard. The smartest choice is to throw a PF or a small&quick center at yao, just like what Don Nelson does everytime he plays rockets.
Blazers have a couple of such kind of PFs in Aldrige and Frye, even Outlaw would do a better job against yao than Pryz does. Frye and Aldrige are gonna kill yao if they starts in the following games of that series. Yao is just feared of such kind of centers that are both capable at shooting and breaking in, like Okur and Harrington.
In terms of the rockets, it's better to make changes while the opponent are also doing the same thing, rather than wait till it gets too late. I think Rick Adelman should cut yao's minutes in Game 2 and play scola some minutes at C. Although the rockets demolished the Blazers tonight, it doesn't mean the rockets are overwhelmingly more powerful than Blazers. To some degree it's their lack of experience that killed them tonight.
It doesn't matter for rockets to lose game two, they just need to guarantee the next two home games to come. with 3-1 in book to enter the game 5 @ Blazers, it won't be too hard for rockets to replicate tonight's win in Rose Garden Square. The young blazers will have already lost their last pieces of confidence after the series goes to 3-1, Game 5 will just be a cake walk for Rockets IMHO, the blazers are still an immature team after all. God bless rockets and our beloved yao.
Believe.
