View Full Version : Too early to get ecstatic, rockets fans

The game is already pocketed by the rockets, and I'm glad to see our country's hero playing a perfect game tonight: 9-9 from the field, 6-6 from the line, 9 rebounds and 24 points by the 3rd quarter, making the entire 4th quarter garbage time... but...

It's just the first time in this decade for Blazers to make the playoffs, actually they don't know exactly the differences between the games of regular season and those of post season. But the young teams always grow fast... with one game's experience for the playoffs, maybe they will appear to be a quite different team in game 2, game 3, game 4...

Blazers made a poor strategy on yao. Any team playing the rockets should know it's unfeasible to expect one single player to lock up yao, only by double team can a team limit yao a little bit. Blazers also tried a little bit doubles but they didn't work, the problem is pryzbilla is even slower than yao. Other than Shaq, on other center in today's NBA can match up well against yao, even for Dwright Howard. The smartest choice is to throw a PF or a small&quick center at yao, just like what Don Nelson does everytime he plays rockets.

Blazers have a couple of such kind of PFs in Aldrige and Frye, even Outlaw would do a better job against yao than Pryz does. Frye and Aldrige are gonna kill yao if they starts in the following games of that series. Yao is just feared of such kind of centers that are both capable at shooting and breaking in, like Okur and Harrington.

In terms of the rockets, it's better to make changes while the opponent are also doing the same thing, rather than wait till it gets too late. I think Rick Adelman should cut yao's minutes in Game 2 and play scola some minutes at C. Although the rockets demolished the Blazers tonight, it doesn't mean the rockets are overwhelmingly more powerful than Blazers. To some degree it's their lack of experience that killed them tonight.

It doesn't matter for rockets to lose game two, they just need to guarantee the next two home games to come. with 3-1 in book to enter the game 5 @ Blazers, it won't be too hard for rockets to replicate tonight's win in Rose Garden Square. The young blazers will have already lost their last pieces of confidence after the series goes to 3-1, Game 5 will just be a cake walk for Rockets IMHO, the blazers are still an immature team after all. God bless rockets and our beloved yao.

Believe.

The Blazers and Spurs are already going into game 2 as a must win game.

I don't like the Blazers or their fans at all but I seriously feel bad for them. They had so much hope going into this game, the crowd was so into it and then you look at all those guys on the bench right now and they just look destroyed. They'll play better in the next game, they have nowhere else to go really.

I expect the sequence from here on out to be LWWLW for Houston. 4-2 series win.

They could win in 4-5 though. If Portland does not win game 2 a sweep is probable.

Blazers fans are dedicated...chearing while down 30, I'm embarrased to say that our fans left during the 3rd of the end of our streak last year.

In true WWF style, I expect the NBA to drag it out to 6 games. Fixed games and all.

Blazers have no veteran leadership. They are like the Nuggets, except they are hyped so hard.

It's one game. We have had two 2-0 first round leads and not cashed them in.

You're right, I hope the young players understand that it's just one game. If you come in on Tuesday unfocused (Landry!!!) you could be going home 1-1.

true, but all we needed is to get one game to take away homecourt advantage which the rox now have back. Plus, 78.8% of all teams that win game one go on to win the series and if you are the road team it's probably higher than that. I think we're good enough to not end up in the 20%.

The Rockets just looked so determined throughout the whole game. Those 2 turnovers by Brooks in the 3rd were really the only possessions they mentally took off.

If the Rockets give a damn at all in game 2, Portland is getting swept.

I'm a bit concerned that When they started fronting Yao in the 3rd, he was unable to get any touches at all. I had flashbacks of the Mavs game for a second.

Actually theytried changing the momentum with the Roy flop, in the Dallas game it was the 4 fouls in 4 minutes

And here something else to worry about. I forgot what year it was but it was like 3 or 4 years back.

Houston won both games on the road in Dallas in Games 1 and 2

But Dallas came back and won both games in Houston in Games 3 and 4

Dallas came back home and went up 3-2. Houston finally protected their homecourt and the series went back to Dallas where Houston got blown out.

So great game 1 steal on the road but its only 1 game. There are still more games to be played. I expected a Portland sweep though. You guys proved me wrong. :lol

When they front Yao, Adleman needs to put Yao at the high post to hit the flashing Scola or Landry. Backdoor cuts!

after going up 2-0 against the mavs a few years back and then lose, i dont think any rockets fan with a memory span longer than 1 year is ecstatic right now. good win for the rockets but we need 3 more before we can start celebrating

But the bitch is Portland isn't Dallas. I think Jason Terry is too busy with their own playoff series to go around possessing Brandon Roy to help torch the Rockets' asses.

Add Boston to that list. When you lose home court advantage in game one, game two is a must win for anyone. The series doesn't begin until you win on the other teams court.
