My assessment of the 1st half

Tony is kicking ass. Gooden came to play. Bonner has done decent. Udoka doing all the dirty work. For the first 20 minutes, our D was awesome. Last 4 minutes, too many open 3s allowed. We got foolish on offense in the last few minutes....bad shots and some careless turnovers. The refs are giving the Mavs a lot of bullshit calls, especially Dirk. I believe the Mavs have shot like 20 FTs to our 8 or so. We are attacking the basket just as much as they are, yet we aren't getting to the line as often.

We need Parker to remain of fire. We need to feed Duncan and Gooden down low. We need Mason and Finley to stay hot from the outside.........we need our D to stay strong.....and no more damn open 3s.

In a way I'm glad the Spurs go into the locker room with that ref-created surge at the end of the half. It should keep them humble and hopefully they come out in the 3rd and play with some energy and aggressiveness.

The reffing has become so bad it's ruining games.

No-one knows what a block/charge is any more, nor what sort of contact is allowed where, and they constantly make mistakes in the last 2 minutes of games that should be reviewable but aren't. It's ruining the game.

I think we need a "video ref" sitting on the sidelines, who the refs can refer to in the last 2 minutes of halves.

We also need to get back to a proper block/charge call paradigm - far too many charges are called these days. You have to be set to get the block.

If you're going to bitch about the officiating you should probably read the rulebook first. You don't have to be set to draw a charge, which is what I assume you meant. The NBA should just make it a block in all but the most obvious cases, which would encourage people to actually try to play defense instead of trying to get bailed out by the refs.

I know refs are human and this is a fast game, but geez, they should at least be consistent. How in the world do they expect the players to know how to play when something is called one game and not the next. Or when something is called on one end and not the other!!

That's all I'd like to see. It's frightening how inconsistent it is. That said, the Bulls have overcome the same type of officiating and if they could have grabbed a rebound in the last five minutes they'd be up 2-0 despite playing five on eight.
