As per headline on Sportscenter @ 12 pm CST.

Powe is going to have surgery on a torn meniscus.

Already without Kevin Garnett for possibly the remainder of the playoffs, the Boston Celtics will have to make due without backup forward Leon Powe as well.

Powe suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee in Boston's Game 2 victory over Chicago on Monday and will not play again this postseason. The injury is unrelated to the right knee sprain that sidelined Powe in March for almost a month.

Powe did not return to the bench Monday after going to the locker room early in the second quarter.

The Celtics' 118-115 victory evened their first-round series against the Bulls at a game apiece.

Garnett, the centerpiece of Boston's 2008 championship and a key to its hopes of a repeat, has been sidelined by a knee injury that limited him to four games over the final two months of the season.

Boston had a near-perfect year last year in terms of injuries, and now it's catching up to them in a big way.

Sucks for him. Can't say I'm sad for the Celtics though.

It's pretty hard to feel bad for the Celtics after seeing Garnett yesterday.

Did KG pound his chest when he got the news?

yawn... Celtics get no sympathy from me.

Just get Jason Richardson to put on a Powe jersey for the playoffs, they won't be able to tell the difference.

He's such a punk. I can't believe how quickly that guy's ego inflated once get got to Boston.

not only that, he threw 24 insults in a row to Powe's knee. In a low voice and 10 feet away of course

Injuries are always a huge part of the playoffs. The team that wins the title is almost always the one contender that manages to stay relatively healthy.

Despite how well 300-Pound-Baby and Perkins played last night, Powe is the best and most consistent big man they have outside of Garnett.

Bad news for them.

wasn't that the knock on him when he was drafted? that he had surgeries on both knees coming out of college?

Celtics are in deep shit now. I just hope Kevin and Leon get healthy soon.

The team's falling apart. I can't stand the Celtics, but I hate to see injuries have such an impact on any teams chances in the postseason.

In other words even if they get past the Bulls, Dwight Howard is going to dominate Perkins,Moore,Davis in the semis. Or Phily for that matter.

Sucks that KG and Powe won't play this postseason. The path for the Cavs is getting easier by the day.

Powe is a good player. That sucks for both him and the C's.

On the other hand, I really want the Bulls to pull an upset, so I guess that's good for them.

Good thing they signed Mikki Moore.

Powe is also the only Boston big man that doesn't come off like a complete douchebag. He doesn't run his mouth and pound his chest, he just plays hard. It's unfortunate.

Moore looks as lost on defense as Nash does.

Right when I read this I thought of KG's snarl after the Ray Ray shot. Took away all my sympathy and gave me a couple of chuckles as a matter of fact :lol

ESPN said it was his ACL, not his meniscus. They said it's the third time he's torn it.

Lakers might get a cakewalk to the championship this year.

All that needs to happen now is for LeBron to break a leg.

Im not sure if your being sarcastic, but Powe is right there with Kendrick Perkins and Garnett in the uber-douche category. Have you seen him run up the floor like retarded kid chasing his stolen bike after he dunks?

Still, it sux, he was a huge part of their success in the playoffs, especially against the Lakers last year, so it sux to see him out. The NBA's no fun when top players on the best teams arent playing, unless its your team thats 100%.And by that i mean KG, Nelson, Manu aswell as Duncan and Hedo fighting injuries, not Leon Powe directly.

May aswell put in the Cavs and Lakers and play the Finals now - there the only contenders who will be close to 100%.

About KG, what cursed him:

- NBA 2k9?

- Or this month's cover story of Men's Fitness magazine ?

Good thing they signed Mikki Moore.

Off topic, but the funniest thing I have ever seen on the internet was at the Rivals.com Pistons board around 2000 when all these Detroit fans were saying Terry Mills + Mikki Moore were going to be the new Duncan & Robinson.

IronMexican

I don't think it was 2k9. Shaq was on 2k6 and they won the title that year.

Plus, Dwyane Wade was on the cover of NBA Live 06 :lol

Players in celtics rotation that can be used in paint: Perkins, Glen Davis, Moore. Maybe Paul Pierce will also play PF in the following games if he can gain enough weight by eating more junk food than he usually does.

Wasn't everyone on the Spurstalk boards calling him one of the biggest floppers in the league? :D

Still, I agree he's not a douchebag.
