IMHO, he hasn't proven himself as a clutch player.

Tony and Tim were on the bench at the end of the third quarter, and the Mavs left their best players in the game. The Mavs had eaten into the Spurs lead a bit. So with 6 seconds left in the quarter, Pop put Tony back in to deliver a message. And even though they were all expecting it, Tony blew past all of them and scored a lay-up as time ran out.

Mason has hit some game-winners, and gotten his due for them. But give me a guy who can do what Parker did every time. And, for the record, if they had managed to collapse on Tony, Mason would have gotten one of those wide-open, uncontested chances to be "clutch".

He shot 51.2% in clutch time, while averaging 37.1 points per 48 minutes. If you want to go by these type of stats in clutch, he was best on the Spurs and one of the better players in the clutch in the league.

Those stats are a little flawed. Lebron & Kobe have been sitting out 4th quarters a lot more than Tony (Heck Tony probably sat 3-5 games this whole season) has.

I'm not saying the number of minutes is impressive - obviously that's because the Spurs play so many close games. I'm saying the fact that he has been able to sustain that kind of field goal percentage and scoring in that many clutch minutes is impressive. For example, Kobe has only shot 45% in the clutch this year.
