The Mavs tried to spin the postgame pledge as a heat-of-the-moment mistake.
"We were all a little frustrated with what happened after Game 2, but nobody is trying to hurt anybody in this league," Nowitzki said. "We're all competitors, but we're all in this together. Nobody is trying to hurt anybody. Damp certainly doesn't have the reputation of being dirty player.
"They have one. We don't."
