The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have placed forward Tim Duncan on the injured list with a grade II right ankle sprain. Duncan, who is expected to miss 2-4 weeks, has appeared in 62 games averaging 20.9 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.68 blocks in 34 minutes per game this season.

At the same time the Spurs activated forward/center Sean Marks. Marks, who has appeared in 7 contests, is averaging 3.0 points and 1.0 rebounds in 7.7 minutes. He will be in uniform for tonight’s Spurs/Knicks game.

Hopefully, the ligament tear isn't too serious.

The IL will at least keep Timmy honest for a while.

Grade 2 means it's at the most a partial tear, right? Hopefully it's close t ofull strength by the playoffs.

Whoo hoooo - hahaha

Nah but im glad to see Sean back in uniform.
I want to see Marks against Rose. See who will win that battle. I still think most of you spurs fans under-rate Marks.

Peace

Timmy doesn't get hurt if he had my coach.... Ok now, I'm 41 years old and have "twisted" my ankles more time than I can remember... but I never was hurt.

How? My coach had us basically roll our ankles every day in practice... He had us stand on the outside of ankles when ever we were just standing around during the day.. This "stretched" the outer ligaments.... It is a practice I still use to this day... If
you have young kids, I'd say you might want to consider having them start...

I would rest Duncan till about a week before the playoffs along with Manu. They have really taken a toll this season and they need proper rest.

Everything will be just fine. Say we get the third seed. Play the 6, probably Memphis, no problem if all healthy. Then play the two, Seattle. Can take them without HC. then play Houston (who has taken out Pho in the 2nd round) with HC. Relax. Health first.

Duncan will likely miss at least the next eight games. If his recovery takes four weeks, he will return the final week of the regular season.

The Spurs have 16 games remaining before the playoffs begin April 23.

"Say we get the third seed"

Wow! Do your really think Sonics can make up 4 1/2 games on us with 16 games remaining?

Do you really think you can scoop the Spurs fans about Spurs news?

Worst case scenario. Personally I don't see it, no. Even if we went 8-8, they would have to go 13-4. Second more likely. But, still okay because I think Hou is going to win the 4-5 and take out Pho. in second round.

Here's a look at our next 8 games:

@ New York
@ Indiana
Atlanta
Houston
Seattle
@ Denver
L.A. Lakers
L.A. Clippers

i say we go at worst 5-3, but that is considering that our guys remember that the game lasts for 48 minutes, not 44.

maybe Duncans' ankle is not a grade 2 sprain but a grade 1. They probably want to rest him for the playoffs. I'm ok with that------- if that's what it is!! I wouldn't put it past Pop to do this in order to rest TD.
