I'd expect someone of his stature to not lower himself to the level of your average douchebag sports fan. Dallas has plenty of them, and believe it or not, so does SA.

Yeah man, all you gave was a transcript. :rolleyes

Whatever. I wasn't at the game, and I don't say stuff like that to opposing fans at sporting events, so I've got no real interest here. But, like I said, I expect better out of the people who run this board (and some of the other top posters here). Also, it's incredibly hypocritical, because I've heard the same caliber stuff (and worse) every single time I've been to SA for a game. But maybe that's okay because the Spurs--sorry, the Spurs fans personally--have four championships?

I don't hear Spurs fans calling every opponents fans a homophobic slur. Even little kids. Spurs fans are at least a little bit more creative.

No, they really aren't. You don't hear it because when you're at a game in SA, you're in the home colors. Or, at least, you're cheering for the home team.

If you're honestly going to sit there and claim that Spurs fans (or younger Spurs fans in particular) at the ATT Center never direct the word "fag" toward a Mavs player or a Mavs fan nearby them, then God help you and your homerism.

Not all of them, but per capita there is no question that Mav fans are much more d-bag than Spur fans.

I have plenty of teams in other leagues that have won plenty of championships, and yet I somehow find a way to not act like an arrogant douchebag toward rival fans.

I'm also not naive (or blind) enough to believe that team's fans are any different or more classy than any other team's. Spurs, Mavs, Kings, 76ers, whoever...every single team in this league, or any league, has great fans and asshole fans.

Not a big deal, I was "friends" with some of those guys in the loosest terms, but it was a little annoying if you let it bother you. It always did eat me up to see how some of the people treated others there.

Huge difference when people on a message board that are somewhat friends are jabbing and calling each other homos. We do not hate each other. Dirk4Mvp and Bump are man-pleasing ass pirates, but I would hang out with them and watch a game.

People who are vile in person, being serious because that is who they are is different. The type of people who would talk shit and fight you over basketball as long as their friends are there. The people who do not even have enough respect to tone it down when there is a family of 4 that has young kids sitting next to them.

Idk, I think he would have emerged as co #2 option by now, sharing honors with JET and Josh every now and then. Still a far cry from the 2nd coming of Jesus as Spur fan proclaims, but I think he could be a 15-18ppg scorer in Dallas right now.

Yes they would, 'cause if you have a borderline all-star as a 4th option you're an elite team (even though he'd be your 2nd option right now) and it's not all about the offense, he was your best defensive player.

Both are equally immature and outrageous. This a public forum, so the name-calling amongst friends excuse is not adequate, since there are other more private ways of communication.

We cannot control other people at Sports stadium, but this forum is a controlled enviroment. Homophobic slurs have no place here, yet they are tolerated by the community it seems. I suggest that if one were serious about being shocked by such unclassy behavior, one would look to clean up one's own house first.

Or is this just a rather lame declaration of supposed superiority of Spurs fans vs Mavs fans?
