Please don't draft either OT at #1. Rather have Stafford, warts and all, or even Curry. Figures they'd have #1 pick in such a weak draft class.

BTW, I just read Harvin may be in play @ 7. Please make that happen.

Love ya, Al.

I bet you are happy as shit that Millen isn't around to fuck this one up.

IronMexican

There is no fucking way the Raiders draft Harvin at 7. I'd be going absolutely crazy. Give me Monroe or Smith.

EricB
04-24-2009, 05:27 PM
Jason Smith is going to the Rams at 2.

The Texans should move up and get one of the OT. If they could have a decent offensive line they could finally do something.

I wish these espn douchebags would stop hyping Heward-Bey. He needs to fall to 27.

There is no way they give anything up to move up. Their line will be okay next season. It's the second year of the ZBS and Duane Brown will have a year experience under his belt.

What a fucked up system. Stafford signs a 6 year deal, $78 million total, $41.7 million guaranteed.

Rams are now on the clock.

Dr. Gonzo
04-24-2009, 10:23 PM
Damn 78 million total. That's fucking ridiculous.

DisgruntledLionFan#54,927
04-24-2009, 10:26 PM
The $78 million is just bullshit. It's the $42 million guaranteed that'll fuck them if he can't play.

04-24-2009, 10:32 PM
Throwing stupid money at a QB is still smarter than taking OL with the #1 overall pick. Good choice by the Lions :tu Now if they have been doing their homework, they can rebuild their line with their other 1st day picks.

IronMexican
04-24-2009, 10:33 PM
I can't wait for a rookie cap to come into play. Of course then, every first round pick would feel they are worth the max rookie deal.

DisgruntledLionFan#54,927
04-24-2009, 10:37 PM
No doubt he was the right pick in my mind. But god damn the rookie deals are outrageous. It's the market, though, so I can't get down on the Lions for giving it to him.

Curry is a very good LBer but giving him $30+ mil guaranteed would have been even stupider. He would have been the highest paid LBer in the game at the price it would have taken to sign him.

And didn't Jerry Jones start all this retarded rookie contract shit with Aikman?

Also, Peter King reports there's some rumors that New England is trying to get a late top-10 pick from Green Bay or Jacksonville.

Seems like something that goes against what Belichick is all about, but it makes sense. This is the year everybody is trying desperately to get out of the top 10, so he might get in there for cheap. And Kraft has the money to afford signing a pick like that. Don't know if I like the idea all that much, but if a guy like Orakpo or Crabtree falls, it might be worth it.

IronMexican
04-24-2009, 10:44 PM
The Pats are more interested in Tyson JAckson than Orakpo or Crabs. Orakpo has fallen to third as far as 3-4 LB players go, behind Maybin and Jackson.

Jackson seems likely, but I don't know if he's a Belichick guy. Hasn't gotten much praise for his football IQ. I'd rather they stay out of the top 10 than go for Jackson, but I'd love to see them grab Orakpo or Crabtree.

Jackson may go as high as 3. Curry is going to drop out of the top 5 IMO.

Then again, Tyson's dreads could be a factor, Belichick likes the dreads. Maroney, Meriweather, Mayo were his last 3 first round picks.

IF Curry is there at 7, the Raiders HAVE to draft him. They've been missing a SLB for so long now. I don't understand how the BPA can fall to 7, but I hope he does. And Curry could be worth a high price for a team who wants him.

That would be a huge boost for the Raiders. If it happens, hopefully Al doesn't screw it up.

According to idiot bloggers, the Raiders want DHB at 7. I think it's more of people just labeling Al than actually having a good reason to draft him. But, if the Raiders do draft him at 7, just give me the gun. I wouldn't be able to take it. I'd be absolutely livid. Probably more pissed than that time they traded up for Fabian Washington.

A lot of mock drafts I've seen have the Raiders picking up Crabtree at 7.

Sucks the Lions fell into the pressure of taking the QB at #1. There are a few QBs in next year's draft that I like just as much if not more than Stafford. One of the more pressing needs should have been addressed with the #1.

Hopefully, they go OT, DT, and ILB in whatever order with their next three picks in the top 65.

Mel Kiper's wife, Kim Kiper, handles just about everything regarded to her husband's work except scout players as part of their cottage NFL draft industry. Kim even cuts her Mel's famous hair.

“She tried to change it, and I said absolutely not,” says Mel.

The couple has been working together since 1989.

Kiper got into the business because he wanted to become an NFL scout and gave his reports to former Giants' GM Ernie Accorsi, who encouraged him to sell the information to fans.

Well Steven that being said, if that all goes according to plan than outside linebacker is what they need desperately.

Brian Cushing out of USC I think would fit in great.

Larry English POSSIBLY.

Aaron Curry? I don't know if hes worth trading up in the draft for but damn, he would be great with Okoye...

Yeah I agree, but the Texans are usually pretty conservative trading wise, but Curry would turn the Texan's swiss cheese defense, into a good run defense.

First round OLB, second CB.

Shame they couldn't pick up the CB out of Alabama. IMO that kid has shut down capabilities.

Watch out for Sean Smith. He has a lot of potential. I'd love for the Raiders to draft him in the second.

Man, I am nutting myself watching these Eugene Monroe highlights.

Monroe is a good tackle, but those knees are a worry.

Andre Smith is the best OT, and overall player IMO, in the draft. He's the only tackle who bent guys back last year.Of course, he's probably one of the biggest bust potentials because of his ten cent head. But the dude dominated on the field.

I don't like the other Smith at all.

Raiders shopping Burgess and Huff. Think Huff, Burgess, and the #40 overall pick could get it done? Maybe even a 2010 5th rounder.

At this point I think Belichick is trading down just for the sake of making a trade. He's trying to set the record for most picks collected without actually drafting anybody.

Their draft seemed weird to me. Lauranidis seemed like a perfect ILB to put next to Mayo and ultimately ensure Bruschi's worthless ass never touches the field again, but instead they take some safety from Oregon that's horrible in coverage when coverage from the safety position was a huge problem for them last year.

I still think the draft was an overall big success for them because they added depth at tackle and guard (which is even more important with Brady's knee), they drafted Darius Butler who once developed will be great paired with Wheatley and best of all got rid of Hobbs who I still wonder why was on the team so long.
