It would take a magnitude of incompetance to re-sign Udoka.

I give him getting re-signed a 40% chance.

The two things he has going for him is that Pop likes him and he had his best playoff game in his final outing. But I don't want him back. His shot selection is horrible, he's way too streaky and he's not that good of a defender. Plus, Pop would probably play him too much again next year even if he sucks.

He had his moments in a Spurs uniform but it didn't work out. I really hope the Spurs replace him with an athletic player or at least just let Hairston and Williams fight over his minutes.

It's time to re-give some credit to Bruce IMHO.

Amen! It's really bad when we're trying to save Pop from himself. :lol

I agree. Rather than bringing him back, I would also much rather see both Hairston and Williams taking up his minutes.

Let him go. He totally sucked on the offensive end, and didn't seem impressive on the defensive end. PLEASE not resign with him, or just give him 5 mins per game.

Peace, can you please take JV, boner, finley, kt, and oberto with ya?!?!

I remember when Ime first came to the Spurs. I thought we would be getting the next Bruce Bowen. But he isn't. He just might have the defensive tenacity to be a great defender, but he doesn't have the speed required. He's tough and strong, but those are what we need from our bigmen, not our wings.

He had his moments, and we thank him for it. If we can't get anyone else, I wouldn't be too surprised if Ime was back next season.

Udoka is Finley minus the jumpshot. Let him walk.

Ime probably didn't work out as well as we'd all hoped. Had some nice moments, but not enough consistency or athleticism to make a huge impact. He's nod the worst option to have as a end-of-bench type guy, but I think we need to look at other options.

Having Ime back would cause the same problems the Spurs had last season with Finely. He would be eating up minutes that could be used to develope younger, more talented players.

I don't dislike the guy but we have got to keep all these older players as far as possible from Pop.

I've wanted Udoka off the team but if Artest signs with the Lakers, that changes the equation. Udoka can guard Artest. He's not a very good defender against anyone else in the NBA but he's built to defend Artest.

Hmmmm . . .

can't richard jefferson defend artest?

It's not worth a roster spot.

Maybe Gist or even Hairston can do a better job. If I remember correctly, Hairston defended Lebron well last season.

Ime should head off and join the Ultimate Fighting Championship in Japan. I think he'd excel at that.

As for keeping him to defend Artest, nice idea, but the roster isn't long enough to keep a guy just for one team, surely? And he'd be out of game shape anyway, unless you took the hit and played him against other teams. Time to go with youth.

He rebounds, defends, and competes. If the Spurs deal Finley and they are looking for a 5th swingman Udoka doesn't bother me.

rather see Hairston. If Finley didnt pick up his option, I wouldnt mind Udoka. but he did so...

He was playing well against Dallas, and then Pop pulled him. He can get a rhythm due to the inconsistent minutes. Pop always lets Fin shoot through slumps, but not anyone else.

There's no room for him unless they trade Finley or pass over Hairston or Gist or Williams.

I agree. If Finley is removed, then Ime is actually a solid veteran to have at the end of the bench, and for the vet minimum that's cheaper than Finley's price. However, if Pop went with youth I'd be fine with that too.

There's a lot of hate on the board for Ime, but I feel like it's not totally justified. He wasn't that good for us, but that's because he isn't that good of a player. Still, he was one of the few players last year with any toughness, so I preferred that in theory. He played hard and seemed to raise his game in the playoffs. I'm not saying it was much, but it showed some heart.

17 roster players yet Bucks still checking out some FAs, including Udoka.

Actually, the Bucks do not have 17 players under contract.
Only if they sign their two Rookies Jennings & Meeks and their two remaining Free Agents Sessions & Ilyasova...

But its obvious they have to release Bruce, if they really want to get Ime :hungry:
