Leading by 2 games over Blazers in this series, the Rockets want to leap forward into the second round as soon as they can, as there are waiting the Lakers that have already beaten Jazz in the first round with a 4-1. With the same record the Mavs also finished their series last night, but the Rockets failed to add another pivotal game to their book and let the Blazers shorten the gap to only one game instead.

With an assist from Scola, Battier made a driving layup to get the first 2 points of the game for the rockets, but the next 6 points all went for the Blazers from Blake, Pryzbilla and Roy. Ron started a 7-0 run with an assist to Scola, and finished it with a 3 pointer after about one minute, Brooks's layup added the other 2 points to this run. In response, Brandon Roy hit a three pointer to tie the game at 9 with 7:51 on the board, followingly Aldridge and Blake contributed another 7 points, combined the Blazers responded the Rockets with a 10-0 run to make the game 16-11 with 5:49 on the glass. Scola made a jumper to put the score board to 13-16, but the Rockets didn't get any point through the next 2 minutes, during which the Blazers scored 7 points which contained 5 points from Fernandez, and enlarged the gap to 8 points. Aaron Brooks scored 4 points in a row to shorten the gap to 6 points with 2:44 to go in the first quarter. The rest of this quarter was inarguably the personal show of Scola, who scored 9 points during this period and pushed his team's score to 26. However, no other player scored for the Rockets in this period while Blake and Fernandez each contributed 2 points respectively, which still allowed the Blazers 3 points to lead over the Rockets. 29-26 was the final score of the first quarter. Scola scored 15 points in this single quarter.

The score on the Rockets side remained 26 till 2 and a half minutes had passed, while the Blazers got 4 pts in a row from Aldridge and another 2 pts from Outlaw during this period. Wafer ended their scoring silence in the next hand right after Outlaw's goal, but the Rockets only got 4 totally from Carl Landry during the next 2:40 time, during which, fortunately the Blazers acquired nothing to give up the deficits they had piled upon the Rockets since the start of this quarter. By making a driving layup, Roy thawed the iceberg covered on the offense of his team and made the score board 37-32 with 6:33 on the glass. After a relatively quite period of 1 minute and a half, Wafer responded Roy with a late running jump shot which made the score board 34-37 at 5:02. In the next two minutes, Aldridge collected 5 points in a row to grow their leading gap to 8 points. Yao's hook shot ate 2 pts from this leading gap but Blake answered him with a 3 pointer in the up-heading round. After Scola and Outlaw minimally adjusted the score board, Yao demolished 5 consecutive points during the rest time of this quarter and pushed the board to 43-48 with less than one minute to play on the glass. Roy made a layup at the last monent of this quarter to set the half-game score at 50-43. Aldridge 15 pts for the first half.

Aldridge made the first field goal in the second half, but Yao answered him only a couple of seconds later on the other end of the floor. Aldridge and Pryzbilla each got 2 points respectively afterwards and excavated their leading gap to 11 points. Houston kept humble until the clock went to 6:16, when Yao started a 8-0 run, to which Scola, Artest and Shane Battier eached contributed 2 points respectively. Roy's driving layup put the score board to 58-53, by 5 points the Blazers were still leading. But Ron's double free-throws and yao's jumper cut the gap to only 1 point when there were about 3 minutes on the glass. During the rest minutes of this quarter, Blazers scored 6 points which were totally from Aldridge. Through the same period, Aaron Brooks collected 5 points for his team to make the score board 62-64, rockets still down by 2 points.

Von Wafer started the 4th quarter with a layup, which tied the game at 64. After that, Yao and Wafer each grabbed 2 points to excavate a 4 points' leading gap over the Blazers. But it didn't last long... The Blazers rushed back and blew out the Rockets through the next 5 minutes or some, during which the Rockets scored nothing. The 15-0 run pushed the board to 79-68 with 4:48 to play in the fourth. Ron's 3 pointer showed the Rockets fans a hope for one second, but the Blazers soon assassinated it in the credle and made the rest game garbage time. Final score 77-88, Rockets lost by 11 points.
