It looks like the Magic will be without Dwight Howard for will be out for game 6 (http://www.nba.com/2009/playoffs2009/04/29/howard.suspended.ap/index.html?cid=playoff1). He was suspended 1 game for that elbow.

No!

That was such a dumb move to throw the elbow Howard.

Time for the rest of the team to step it up even more and get the job done.

Go Magic! :)

Not only does he get himself suspended (which completely caught me by surprise) he injured Courtney Lee who has been absolutely fantastic for them this series.

Now let's see what happens with Rondo. I doubt it will get the same outcome, but at least upgrading it to a flagrant.

And he knocked out Lee with an elbow who will miss game 6 as well.

It would be funny if they suspended Howard an additional game for elbowing his teammate.

I'd love to see what the refs would do if someone on the same team intentionally fouls their own teammate on a shot. They'd have to let it got, but lets say they smack the hell out of the guy? Then what?

Wow. The Magic are going to get blown the fuck out in Game 6.

The NBA set a stupid standard with the Amare-Diaw incident in 2007 where now they have to suspend a player whenever he does anything borderline bad in a playoff game. Dalembert deserved the elbow and Stern needs to remove the sand from his vagina.

Looked pretty bad, but man I remember Karl Malone, that guy was an elbow tornado.

The NBA set that standard in the 90s with the Knicks-Heat suspensions. I can't remember if it was 97 or 98, but that's the no-tolerance rule that has been enforced since then. I agree that it's stupid to suspend players for minor crap like leaving the bench and throwing elbows though.

Well deserved suspension.

I think he should consider himself lucky he didn't get two games... although Stern would have never let that happen. I wonder if Stern/Stu Jackson would have suspended him if the next game were the game 7.

Dwight Howard has no impact on games. The Magic won't miss him.

Each time I've seen that Gortat guy play he's kicked ass, even though the stats don't show it he's a pretty good backup center.

The NBA is just delaying the inevitable. The Sixers will just lose in 7 instead of 6.

That precident was set long before Amare-Diaw with regards to the leaving the bench rule.

I know, that's why when you boil it down the fact is a rule was broken whether or not it's a dumb rule, but the whole thing was blown out of proportion and the media made an extremely huge deal about it. The rule should have been edited the following offseason so we don't hear Barkley say, "If Amare and Diaw can get suspended for flying off the bench then ________ should get suspended for _______" everytime a minor incident like this happens.

The only reason it was made to be such a big deal was due to the fact that a certain team likely pushed the story to the press.

If the Sixers win game 6, that means more money for Stern and his buddies. Mission accomplished.

If Artest did this, he would be out for the entire playoffs. Double standard!

I called it!!! Seriously though every time Gortat gets minutes he plays very well. He's a very good secret to have on your bench.
