What woulp Pop and RC's reaction be if Shaq gave them a call and offered his services really cheap? How would Timmy react? (just killing time till next training camp)

He'll never come here and he'll never come cheap, and we can't afford him. His contract is huge. But, could you imagine?

Just for laughs, wouldn't Kobe be pissed. Shaq would squash Gasol. Could you see Timmy and Shaq win like 2 more Championships together?
Never gonna happen:lol

Maybe Phoenix will buy him out, who knows. But it would be awesome.. I think Timmy could handle it and the 2 big guys respect each other..Plus Shaq makes sure he and Timmy retire with the same number of rings.. very unlikely though. If shaq were free to sign, he'd probably go to the Cavs or Celtics.

Hahaha no he wont

Although didn't you think he was kissing up to Phil Jackson and Kobe at the all-star game? Like he wanted to come back? I was listening to him talk about the Kobe/Shaq/LA situation at the All-Star game and, I kept thinking he sounded like he really wanted another ring and thought he could get another in LA.

And listening to Kobe speak, my impression was that Kobe was like, "I'm gonna get my own ring without you.":lol
Afterall, he does have Gasol now.

What did you think?

If it were possible, I actually think I would gamble on the man. He gets alot of media attention on his own, and I think it is something the Spurs really need.

Bottom line Shaq is going somewhere out of Phx.

We know it aint L.A.
Not back to Miami.
We know it is not with a piss poor team.

So list all the contenders that do not have good centers who could win title with him:

Spurs
Mavs
Hornets
Cleveland
Hawks
Nuggs
Boston

just to name a few. He makes all of them instantly better. Shaq has had one of his best years in a while. He still has another year or 2 left.

If Shaq ever came here, I'd be forced to take a vacation from being a Spurs fan until he left. He tries to come across as a goofy puppy dog in the press, but he's trashed his team mates and coaches at every stop. He's sort of a big man version of Jason Kidd, sowing discontent behind the scenes.

Rodney's posting style reminds me of SOemoI'mDead. Good times.

As for Shaq, I hate the fat fuck. Thankfully I don't think San Antonio is a big enough media market for his ego to seriously consider coming to play here.

I subscribe to the previously mentioned theory that he really wants back in LA, probably equal parts because they'd have a real chance at a ring and because it would kick Kobe's legacy in the balls if they suddenly won with Shaq returning.

Shaq is misunderstood. I think he's a pretty decent guy. Even so, he's old, fat, and slow. He did so much for Phoenix this year, oh wait, that's right, they didn't make the freakin playoffs with two hall of fame players.

What do you mean by "two hall of fame players"? You could put a team consisting entirely of Hall of Fame players but that doesn't mean they make the Playoffs.. Could Barkley and Magic team and make the playoffs? Shaq is a great player, he showed he still can perform at a high level and if he came cheap the Spurs would be foolish not to take him over Bonnar/KT/Oberto Having said that, he doesn't want another ring bad enough to give up serious money..no superstar including Duncan is willing to do that.

I would take Shaq in a heartbeat. Make the most of Duncan still being an elite player and surround him with the best players you can to help win more rings. The Spurs window is still open.

I've always wondered how a Duncan and Shaq frontline would go. I mean come on, Matt Bonner is our starting big man alongside Tim. That's just flat out unfair on Timmy.

Muser
05-12-2009, 08:08 AM
1. Shaq + Duncan = best pair in the NBA.
2. Matt Bonner is our starting C, it can't get worse
3. Why do you give a fuck if he has a big ego? Are we just gonna wind down Duncan's career with matt freakin' bonner?

Dex

I don't think I could do it. Cheering for Shaq is like trying to root for the Lakers. He's just been the enemy one too many times.

Then again, I never thought I could cheer for Robert Horry after Houston and LA either. If he were able to come in and contribute, I bet he'd turn a few opinions...

And as incredibly well as Shaq and Duncan seem to get along...I bet Tim would still appreciate the damn help in the post that he's not getting from the Wacky Hairdo Crew.

I am with you. Call it a hunch but somehow, someway, I think it's a possibility. If the NBA, especially Stern, has taught us anything, it's anything is possible. Don't believe me? The state of the economy is not at it's best, this we know. The NBA is continoulsy re-structuring itself financially to accomodate more fans, this we know. Maybe not Spurs fan, but a Kobe-Shaq reunion would be like a traveling circus :downspin: not to mention the drama (even many hypocrites claim they don't like drama) it would create especially in L.A.

Kobe would go along with it. Like I said, anything is possible.

You're crazy.

Secondly, we are giving heavy minutes to MATT BONNER. After bonn Bonn, it's KT. There's nothing wrong with KT as a reserve, and the same for Bonner in short bursts. There's no guarantee in Drew Gooden returning, and he isn't exactly the sort of presence on the block that is reassuring on a nightly basis. Furthermore, they are all a bit too small for my liking. I don't see many options as good as these out there at the C position, and it's worth the gamble if the opportunity presents itself with the sort of window the G.P.F.O.A.T has left.

For the f up with the jersey and the retired number, I can only explain it with a brain fail. Nothing more. I have no excuse for forgetting about the Sean. He's in my top 5 for favorite Spurs all time. I deserve a lump from every Spurs fan on this board for that.

Firstly,

He has ties to this city. What ever their validity...he has them.

Secondly,

Why do people think they can say that Tim Duncan,
[LEFT]PoP

, or RC have A 'dislike' or 'hatred' for any player...you can't logically conclude anything about a persons thoughts you only know through sound bytes on various media outlets.

Thirdly,

of all the hair brained scenarios

i've

read on

SPursTalk

...

Iverson

,

Rasheed

Wallace, Noah,

ect

ect

ect

THIS seems the most
plausible

and
fruitful

..

Shaq

is a true center and Duncan is a
Power Forward

....
having them
both

on the floor would be beyond imagining..

so why, if they want to win championships,
Wouldn't

the
aforementioned

Pop, Tim, or RC CONSIDER the possibilities of getting

shaq

...and
conversely

why WOULDN'T SHAQ consider a move to the

SPurs

if it means
serious

contention for a
championship

...even for 2 or three seasons.

FINALY

he is due 20 million bucks on his last year and is most certainly going to buy out his contract... and after his earning a
quarter

of a BILLION dollars already he can out right BUY his last year in CASH...and why would he seek another 20+ million dollar salary...its just not
feasible

at his age..

Shaq

WILL play 3 or 5 more seasons in what ever capacity he can...and if you
objectively

viewed any of the games he played this year...you would know the guy is still an IMPACT player for stretches....

Also

the guy has lost

alot
of weight since his LA days and seems to be hell bent on coming

in at 300

pds

next season...he wouldn't be doing that if he wasn't hell bent on getting another ring or two the next few, and his last, season..

THANK YOU... all you people that are so damn negative are always wrong. that would be a powerhouse to have shaq and timmy together. Awesome post Rodney. Money isn't even an issue with me concerning Snaq. He's a fat lazy piece of shit at the tail end of his career who takes all the credit but none of the blame. When things are going great it's all about him. When things are going shitty he's one of the first people to throw others under the bus.

I don't even care if he took the league minimum. I still wouldn't want that fuck in Silver & Black.

How many times do Spurs fans have to get kicked in the balls to get over their holier than thou attitude? Do you guys enjoy getting being humiliated in the first round so much? What about that ass kicking we took in the WCF last year. For years we have been talked about so much as a class franchise that now I think that has got into a lot of our heads. I'll gladly take Shaq. Anything beats watching Tim's career painfully dwindle with the help (or lack thereof) Matt Bonner. That being said i'm a realist and this will never happen.
