back in 2003 (doesn't seem very long ago) when we were on the verge of beating the 3 time nba champ Lakers and Bill Walton was on air saying how young our team was and that "we could be seeing something very special here" and he proceeded by saying all of the Spurs ages. Tim Duncan, Stephen Jackson, Speedy Claxton, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker....and the chance to add a Jason Kidd or Jermaine O'neil. I was just thinking about that the other day. Damn, what the hell happened???!!!

Yup and in 04 06 it took miracles to beat us, so.... at least we got some out of that team. :)

Yeah, no kidding. After the 2001 debacle, the Spurs era was supposedly over. If you would have told me the Spurs would win three more championship by the summer of 2009, I would have rolled my eyes and laughed.

Hell, our 2nd title broke up the Laker's run which seemed like it had no end forthcoming.

And yet unfortunately the Twin Towers haven't even been recognized as one of the greatest sports duos EVER. I'm not saying they're as good a duo as kobe and shaq but they only won 1 less than them in the same time period. Best Damn Top 50 Sports Duos list is a fucking joke.

David was going over the hill while Tim was rounding into form towards the end of Robinson's career, so I think that's why they aren't really viewed as highly with regard to dynamic duos. They were still a force to be reckoned with at the rim though throughout their tenure together.

I still don't think the Spurs are done winning championships yet, at least in the Tim Duncan era.

I also remember when we couldn't get past Utah to save our lives in the late '90s and I used to put my hopes in Del Negro heating up to help out D-Rob.

Not totally, but we sure could've used Captn Jack in 2004 & 2006. I say we win another championship or two with him.

3 championships? Pssh. The Spurs were so good they really should have won 8 titles over the last 7 years -- anything less than that has to be a letdown to any REAL Spurs fan.

Who cares, really, that only 3 franchises in league history have won more titles than the Spurs have won in the last 7 years? They've completely wasted their opportunity by ONLY winning 3 titles since the 2003 playoffs began.

Especially since 4 of those 3 titles are due to the brilliance of the head coach, and for no other reason.
