He's on the team roster, therefore, he's out of the 2nd round.
Cmon, if we can give Antoine Walker and Glenn Robinson a ring, i think we can give T-mac this.

If you're a virgin and all your friends, but you, run the train on a girl are you still a virgin?

That should answer this question.

The whole rockets team will keep their virginity until they get raped in the second round by the lakers.

I feel like T-Mac got unlucky wit this. This is one of the worst teams Houston has faced in the first round. They have no experience and they are a terrible road team.

They still wouldve won with T-Mac....but I still gotta call him a 2nd round virgin.

No, because he didn't play in any games of the series. He's still a 2nd round virgin. Tim Duncan didn't play in the 2000 playoffs and the Spurs went out in the 1st round. The Spurs went out in the first round this year and all the sports talking heads were saying that this was the first time that Tim Duncan was eliminated in the 1st round because 2000 didn't count for him. In other words, you have to play the games in order for it count for you.

Hey, i'm just saying, if Mark Madsen can win 3 NBA championships, then T-mac can be known as getting out of the first round *psss, he's also my 3rd favorite NBA player*

Mark Madsen only won 2 championships. And he actually played in playoff games in 2001 and 2002. TMAC did not play any games in the first round this year. Madsen has more championships than TMAC has playoff series victories.

T-Mac deserves better than his reputation IMO.

I don't see any humor in a guy being plagued by bad luck and being robbed of his skills by injuries over the last few years.

His injuries come because of a bad work ethic.....show me another player who's own training staff questioned whether or not he cared about getting back on the court healthy.

Injury prone players get a lot of pity some of them don't deserve.

^This.

Had Yao not gone out last year, I think they could have won the West, if not somehow beat Boston. Heck, they won comfortably over LA without Yao and Landry (who was playing at an All-Star caliber level during the 22 game win streak. But he's stil on the hook for losing winable series in 2005 and '07.

Could you imagine McGrady with Kobe's work ethic? I remember when he was in Toronto and he looked like he was going to become an elite defensive player, and then it's like he gave all that up the second he was the man in Orlando.

Exactly, his work ethic clearly isn't there.

The next time you see footage of him, take a look at his legs, they are thin as a rail. Chronic knee injuries always seem to occur when a player's main asset and tool used during a game is athleticism and furthermore has a weak lower body. Amare, T-Mac, Livingston, and Danny Manning are just a few other examples.

He's a malingering quitter, and the Rockets are better without him.

For him to no longer be a 2nd round virgin, he would have to actually participate in the advancement of the 1st round and participate in the 2nd round.

Riding the pine in a suit don't fucking count.

That's kind of like a virgin pornstar. It boggles the mind.

Saying that he is still a second-round virgin doesn't even begin to explain the cosmic failure that is T-Quit.

The Houston Rockets were spinning their wheels and going nowhere this season. They were on pace to be eighth or ninth in the West. Then immediately after T-Quit announced on his website he was having surgery to end his season (without telling his team first), the Rockets found their identity, came together as a team, figured out their roles, and promptly became an elite defensive squad. They became a .750 basketball team overnight, as good as any in the West save the Lakers. His quitting had as big an impact on the team as if they were suddenly to sign a superstar free agent.

And now, because he isn't there, the Rockets have made the second round after a 12-year drought.

If there were a "Least Valuable Player" award in the NBA, T-Quit would be the unanimous winner. I struggle to think of an instance where one player's ceasing to play did more to improve a team anywhere in any professional sport than Tracy MeQuitter and the 2008-09 Houston Rockets. He might be the worst team player ever.

No, he's not just a second round virgin anymore. His reputation as a loser and failure totally transcends just not making the second round now.

I agree, this is like the best example ever of the Bill Simmons "Ewing Theory"........excluding Jeremy Shockey and Tiki Barber of course.

Q: Do the 2008-09 Rockets qualify for the Ewing Theory?

A: I wanted to rule "no" because nobody ever said the words, "Uh-oh, T-Mac is gone, the Rockets are screwed now." At the same time, you can't beat the comedy of a T-Mac team finally making it past the first round 12 seasons into his career ... only he's watching from streetclothes on the bench. So let's include him.

I used to try and defend him, but this season relieved me of any shred of respect I may have been holding on to. Excellent post. :toast
