Phil Jackson is something like 40-0 if he wins game one. We HAVE TO win game one! No questions asked if we want to really take it to the Lakers.
TNT ran the stat tonight that he's 40-0 in playoff series when winning Game 1. Think about that. How many guys coach in 40 playoff series, never mind win 40 and never mind go 40-0 in series you win game one.

Battier and Artest need to step up big time and I mean huge. I think we need to put Battier on Kobe. Artest can guard Odom and split time with Landry on him. Scola and Gasol will cancel each other out. Yao is better than Bynum. Brooks is the key to the series. He needs to have a great scoring and assist games and cannot simply drive into traffic to get blocked.

Like i've said many times before, there's absolutely no way in HELL Rockets come anywhere close to winning a game in this series.
There's a better chance of a meteor crashing through my window. The sad thing is that Kobe is sick and the Rockets still won't be able to take advantage.
Things in life you can always count on, taxes, death, and the Rockets bowing out in HUMILIATING fashion in the playoffs

Scola and Gasol cancel each other out? Ok.
Scola has officially emerged
Houston Rocket's "Total" Production Per-Minute
Below is a table summarizing the Rockets' "total" production per 40 minutes of playing time. The top 3 are Yao Ming (37.3 units of production per 40 minutes of playing time), Luis Scola (30.3), and Tracy McGrady (29.6). As I mentioned, the "surprise" is Scola in second place. If T-Mac had been healthy, it seems reasonable to assume that T-Mac would have come in second, given his 35.9 average last year. However, even in third place Scola would be a surprise to some.
The traditional NBA reported statistics essentially ignore defense -- primarily because a) it's not "sexy", and b) it's difficult to measure. In effect, this "total" metric assumes all of the players are equally effective on the defensive end. As a result, it undervalues players if a major portion of their contribution comes on the defensive end of the court. For the Rockets, this means it especially undervalues players like Chuck Hayes, Shane Battier and Ron Artest; maybe Yao as well -- though probably not relative to other centers.
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_i47TEqZoAbw/Sf3lrI2qV2I/AAAAAAAAAGo/tFISbPft4Mk/s400/Rockets+Off+Contrib+Table+5-3-09.jpg (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_i47TEqZoAbw/Sf3lrI2qV2I/AAAAAAAAAGo/tFISbPft4Mk/s1600-h/Rockets+Off+Contrib+Table+5-3-09.jpg)
Since the Rockets are about to go into the second round facing the LA Lakers, you might be interested in how Kobe Bryant stacks up against the Rockets using this metric. With 2201 points, 429 rebounds and 399 assists in 2960 minutes, he'd be first -- with a rating of 40.9 per 40 minutes of playing time.
We just gotta stop Kobe and I think we can do that combining Battier and Artest on Kobe.

Recent Interview from Yao
Your team got swept by the LA Lakers in the regular season. So whose performance you think is the most important if the Rockets wish to play well up against the LA Lakers in the playoff?
Yao Ming: If I can get more balls passed to me down at the low post, i.e. at least more than what I got in the first round, I will inflict as much damage to LA Lakers’ interior as possible. I will create and draw so many fouls that Andrew Bynum will be glued to the bench. Of course, a much better result will be Pau Gasol will also be glued to the bench.
What do you think about Brent Barry’s chance for playing in Round 2?
Yao Ming: There are no questions/doubts on Brent Barry’s playoff experiences, and he is very good in making his 3-pointers. But his problem is on his defense. If he gets minutes to play on court, he will just act as an assault point, hit a few 3-pointers and be substituted immediately. The head coach will not let him stay to play too long on the court, and get exposed, because after all, on defense, he will be facing offensive players like Kobe Bryant and Trevor Ariza.
For the last question, can you talk to us about your prediction on the probability of the Houston Rockets winning the second round?
Yao Ming: I knew that nobody favors us, but that is exactly why we would want to give our all and play this round well. LA Lakers has Kobe Bryant; they have home court advantage; they also swept us in the regular season and therefore have this psychological superiority over us. Yet despite of all these so many reasons, I still believe it is 40/60 split for this playoff series. 40% Rockets 60% LA Lakers.
I think Yao is realistic. We have a 40% chance of taking down the Lakeshow. Not terrible odds considering the regular season.

If the Lakeshow tries to pack it in the lane, I hope we use Brent Barry like the Spurs used Steve Kerr during the Mavs series where the Spurs were losing and Kerr came in and hit everything he was putting up from 3 pt land for the Spurs win.

I see the Lakers as a team that has yet to flip the switch. They have yet to put every ounce of themselves into a game and fight thus far into the playoffs. We haven't seen them do THAT since those BOS/CLE games months ago.
I want to see that tomorrow night. I want to see the Lakers fight for every loose ball and rebound. The Lakers are capable of absolutely dismantling this league with the talent they have. It's all about effort, concentration, and the right mindset. Phil Jackson can cement his legacy in NBA history as the All-Time greatest coach if he can channel the right energy and get this team to an NBA championship. If the Lakers can make it over the hump this season they will repeat, no doubt about it. This is a 3-peat caliber team on paper, but as we all know NBA championships are not won on paper.

The Lakers were a perfect 4-0 straight up in the four head-to-head meetings during the regular season and this is a bad sign for the Rockets as teams that were swept in the regular season (three or more games) are 0-25 all-time in a NBA playoff series.
