My birthday is coming up this Wednesday and it got me thinking about all the presents I've received on my birthday. I would say that my best birthday present that I got was probably back in 2004. I got a round trip plane ticket to Minneapolis and stayed in Minnesota for a month with some family friends.

When I had turned 14, my dad got me a PS2 and a couple games. At the time, it was completely unexpected. I had always been a poor Mexican kid living with my mom here in Texas, struggling each day, not knowing the pleasures of the future of gaming (at the time). Everyone I went to school with had every system, tons of games, huge TVs, etc, and here I was with my shitty PS1 from almost 10 years prior.

He set it up all badass. I had just gotten home from the long flight to Oakland and I was unpacking when he came in and hinted at what he had got me and told me to go look around.

I found it under the bed, and I nearly shit my pants when I saw it.

The first time I had sex on one of my birthdays I was 16, and by then I had pounded the girl I was with for almost a year. So, it wasn't that amazing. Few things will top the childish feeling of getting the best (at the time) game system ever.

I don't recall too many presents actually, but one of my favorites was for my 30th birthday. We lived in Augusta, Georgia and my husband took me out for dinner and drinks. He said he had heard of a little place that had good live music and we should go there. So we got to this place it was very nice but larger than I expected and found our reserved table. The show started and the act was Elton John!! Just him and his piano. A great surprise and a really fun night. :)

Mine was yesterday. Didn't get anything, but had a great time bowling with Little ASF and some friends of ours.

I used to get laid on my birthday, but Mrs. ASF closed that store years ago.

Interesting to read that sex is a popular birthday gift.

My birthday is too close to Christmas so usually everyone is either broke from Christmas, combines Christmas/Birthday gifts, out of town, or simply forgets in all of the holiday chaos.

I've never been that into my birthday except for the 16, 18 & 21st ones, anyway ... now I'm just glad I have them.

The gift that comes to mind is my own phone ( home phone, not cell), which my parents gave me when I was thirteen.
I loved that thing.

Birthdays kinda stopped being exciting for me when I turned 15. Around that time, it seemed like no one gave a shit anymore. And I don't mean just presents. It seems like only my mom and my dad call me on my birthday. Such is life I guess.

When I was 9 a purple 10 speed bike with a white basket on the front with purple flowers ...

Then when I turned 19, sex became the best bday present I ever got!

At expense of one Jacob1983's previous posts I will have to say:

But seriously...I haven't gotten anything too good for my birthday. Mine is always Memorial Day weekend so everyone already has plans.

However, for my 21st Birthday I was on a mission trip and doing that was a pretty good thing. It made me pretty happy.

Two things come to mind. Both tied for 1st place:

On my 14th birthday, my dad surprised me with a summer trip to Wrigley Field for a Cubs/Pirates series. I've been a Cubs fan as long as I can remember (because of him). This was back in '92 when they still had Greg Maddux (pre-Atlanta), Ryne Sandberg, Mark Grace, Andre Dawson and Sammy Sosa(pre 'roids). To make it even better, the Cubbies swept the series. Quite a feat for them at that time.

A few years ago my grandfather, with whom I'd had very little contact until my mid 20's, drove 4 hours to my place to take me and the wife to dinner. He gave me a picture frame with several pictures of my biological father. (I was adopted as a baby) I was completely speechless.

Nice presents. I wanted a sofa bed this year but I don't think it's gonna happen.

My birthday falls over spring break every year & when I was growing up, it always seemed to be the week my mom would go on vacation. On my sixteenth birthday she went to Thailand, Indonesia and some other places. She felt bad for missing my B-Day so she brought me back an antique korean medicine chest. It is what the medicine men (physicans) used in the 1700s & 1800s to keep all of their potions and herbs. I have used it as a jewelry chest ever since then. I loved the idea of having something with such an interesting history.
