Ok, I'll give you a serious answer looking forward. Spurs need to get their bench stronger. They need seriously someone to back up Ginobili and Parker who can also put a lot of points on the board. Mason is good but do not even try to stick him in at point guard. I think Hill can develop into a good point guard cause he's athletic enough and smart enough to do it. But I'd still rather use him in both positions. Spurs are adequate at both guard positions. Now SF, Center and Backup PF are all areas that need upgrading.

SF you need someone who can play solid defense and score more than 2 pts a game.

Center - For crying out loud I still cannot figure out why Oberto wasn't played unless Pop was trying to protect his health and that bad ticker of his. Oberto is playoff tested and would have been better than Bonner out there. That being said, if you're not going to use Oberto, get rid of him and get rid of Bonner too. Get someone like Nene.

Backup PF, Maybe you can get a tall guy like Pryzbilla a combo PF/C to come to San Antonio. Wouldn't bet on it though.

Just what we need, another PF that plays below the rim and blocks shots flat footed.

Since Pau is in serious financial straits, I'd say it's quite likely that they find whatever way they can to dump his salary. It's probably 80 percent he ends up a spur, just because of the money problems the team and the league have over there.

Where there's a will there's a way.

I bought all the Spurs' PR about how Scola's buyout/agent/whatever made him utterly unattainable. Just impossible for anyone to get him to the NBA. Then the Spurs move him to Houston and he's in uniform before Jackie Butler even knows he's been traded.

If the Spurs want Splitter bad enough to pull strings and spend, I bet he'll be here. :)

Don't think there aren't other teams overseas that would pay for his services if he became available. And salaries over there would be much more than what he would be getting paid to play for the Spurs in the spot that they drafted him at.

They can't spend more than what his draft position allows. This is why it's going to be difficult for him to come over.

Correction - Spurs can give him more money in 2010. The question now is... would he be worth it. Looking at that video... he needs some work to get his game up to NBA standards.

Everyone is penciling in 2010.

2010 is being very optimistic in my opinion. Unless he has a burning desire to play the very best, I just don't think his focus is there, but moreso on what he can earn at this point in his career.

I assume we should (I mean Spurs' organization) should learn from that mistake, we need Tiago to develop him at this level, anyhow he could get a big contract in euros, because of that Spurs should make him a good offert.

Is Spurs allowed to pay Splitter a big offer? According with his brazilian agent, it´s almost impossible to go to Spurs next year, due the rookie contract scale.

Of course the Spurs should be prepared to make him a good offer when they are allowed to in 2010.

And the Spurs, by that I mean Pop, knows that a mistake was made with respect to Scola. He has said so publicly:

“It kills me to have him on that team,” Popovich said. “Enough to make you spit.”

http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/columnists/buck_harvey/Think_they_could_use_him_Scola_trade_becomes_a_fac ial.html

That is correct. The Spurs will be able to offer much more in 2010.

Everything you need to know about it is outlined by Tim Varner on his blog:

You know... I wasn't all too impressed honestly. In the NBA, a lot of his stuff would be sent back to the rafters, charged called, or foul called. I hope he gets better than this if he does come over in 2010. Give him more minutes please!

Of course, this is just one You Tube video, but usually those are the impressive ones.

Why are we even wasting time on discussing this loser anyways. If you recall it like the guy is wanting to come here and play he has made no such commenting... its been a couple of yrs now, move on all. If the guy wanted to be a spur already it would have happened in one way or the other. It hasnt so stop wondering if we should sign the guy. That fucker obviously likes it over there is getting paid why come here.

I dont remember for any other player foriegn or homebreed why we(as spurs fans) care so much for this loser, hes never played for us, And people act like he's the next coming of Jordan or some shit.

i say fuck him we dont need a player who is all about himself and money.

He has shown no intrest in playing with the SPURS or his desire to make it happen, if spurs wanted him bad enough they would have bought out his contract........

SO EVEVERYONE GET OFF TIAGO SPLINTERD ASS ALL READY, HE'S A SCRUB KEEP HIS ASS OVER SEA'S.

He clearly has the talent to at least be a reserve 4/5 in the NBA. The Spurs hold his rights. He reportedly has a reasonable buyout next year and the Spurs will be able to make a competitive offer. Thus we talk.

I wont hold it agaisnt you yet, but anymore of those type of lame rebuttals might cause a change in heart. I think you fall short of grasping the point of the post..... And further more really dont understand that Spurs faced two different problems between Scola & Splinter... Just make sure you do a bit more research on why spurs did what they did before posting......

From understanding rights are lifted after this season and any team can talk to him. Could be wrong but read it somewhere in previous blog or something. Talking to a point is all good but, dont expect much to come from it. Spurs need help and need it fast. Im all for Splinter coming here if it were more than just chatter around Spurstalk. but i dont hear any mention of it from FO peers who make the calls.

I agree. Splitter automatically qualifies over Bonner.

He has a point about the black athletes though. The Olympic Argie farm team was a flash in the pan as far as it looks now so we won't be getting anymore potential Oberto, Scola, Nocioni fearless types who don't give a shit about the NBA stronger players... I don't know if Splitter is tough since he's not an Argie..

I hope this year , Spurs FO drafts a domestic center or forward to help out or something...We need to have more bulldogs and pittbulls, like Houston to help out Timmy in our defense now that Bruce Bowen will be gone.
