And he should be. I've watched Huntsman operate for years in Utah and I'm thoroughly impressed with the man. I may not always agree with the gov, but I think he's smart, honest, scrupulous and realistic about what America is and should be (basically an anti-Palin). And actually, on quite a few issues I find his moderate views fairly refreshing. I might not agree with them, but in Utah, I'll take what I can get and be happy about it. And given the mess that is the batshit insane national republican party and it's potential 2012 candidates, I'll take what I can get in Jon Huntsman there too.

So I like him. Which is more than I EVER thought I'd say for a republican. In Utah. Who happens to be the son of a billionaire.

And the other day he just got himself dis-invited from some hard-core lunatic right speaking engagement in Michigan, which means he's probably doing/saying something right. Or, y'know, rational.

Obama's campaign manager fears Jon Huntsman the most in 2012
SALT LAKE CITY - (ABC 4 News) - There is one republican presidential candidate that President Barack Obama's campaign manager fears the most in 2012...and his name is Jon Huntsman Jr.

This week for Governor Huntsman, good things are coming in threes.

Not just the fear from the Obama campaign, but also an important phone call and a weekend spent testing the waters in a key primary state.

While no republican presidential candidate yet makes Obama's team "shake in {their} shoes...," President Obama’s campaign manager, David Plouffe, now says Governor Jon Huntsman makes him, a "wee bit queasy...I think he's really out there speaking a lot of truth about the direction of the party."

To which Kirk Jowers of the University of Utah’s Hinckley Institute of Politics says, "Huntsman has positioned himself in a great place right now because he is the only presidential candidate really running in the middle right now."

Huntsman spent the weekend in Michigan which is a key G.O.P. primary state.

And Jowers - who has advised three republican presidential candidates - says Huntsman has now, "...become a top five candidate for 2012."

And finally, ABC 4 noticed this item on the governor's schedule for Tuesday, May 5th at 11:15 am.

It’s a phone call with Frank Luntz.

Jowers told us this about Dr. Luntz: "Luntz is one of the premier republican pollsters and strategists."

And Jowers says eventually all serious republican presidential candidates will talk to Luntz and, perhaps, employ his services.

In fact, Jowers concludes, "There’s no question that Huntsman is, perhaps, the most talked about republican in the country right now."

As an interesting side note- Huntsman's smoking hot wife Mary-Kay once eye raped the shit out of this dude I worked with years ago named "Dirty Hads" because he impressed her with a skateboard. Check out the backwards sex walk at :11 (in front of her husband) :lol

He'll be drummed out for being ideologically impure by the party Jacobins. It's already started to happen, I think.

It depends on how much influence said morons retain. And how pervasive a part they are of the voting constituency. Depending, I think being exiled from the Republican party (at least in spirit) might could be a good thing? Like the article said IIRC, he's the only candidate preaching from the center. I think that might be a good thing anyways. No matter how much the Limbaugh zombies try to destroy him.
