That crazy ol' coach has the upper hand on the league once again.
Picking the Spurs as the post season favorites runs contrary to the Spurs M.O. So obviously Pop had to do something about it:
First he has Manu pretend to be too tired and beat up from two years of continuous basketball to be at full strength.
Then he tells Tim to purposely land on Rasheed's foot and fake a sprained ankle.
He then tells his team to clank all outside shots off the rim, and privately threatens to release Devin Brown for not following through on that mandate against Detroit and creates another fake injury for him.
Finally, his trusted confidont the entire season, Brent Barry, has been successfully inserted to ensure losses whenever needed, but in practice has been hitting 84% of his threes, just waiting for the playoffs to start.
By the end of the regular season the Spurs and Pop are hoping to once again fly under the radar to their 3rd title. Pop has initiated this plan successfully.
I, for one, am pleased at the success of this plan so far. 3 losses and counting. . . it's going quite well. A loss to Atlanta would do even more to create doubt among the media. Then when the post season starts Pop reveals the REAL Spurs, led by the mighty Mrs. Brent Barry!!!
